Musical Musings...
Anne Watson Born
So. This Sunday, your Sanctuary Choir, CreationDance, the FUUSN Band, Lois Shapiro, Linnea Bardarson, and I will try to express some artistic thoughts about our new core values. I have to say, it’s a much taller order than I expected when we decided to create this service. To take one example, we will sing part of a Brahms motet, a piece that reflects not only pluralism, a somewhat bulky concept*, but also encompasses transformation (“Create a pure heart within me, O God, and grant me a new and sure spirit.”). The Brahms is also a work of beauty and joy, which ought to be core values for all of us.
| |
| |
And that’s just one example – you’ll have to come on Sunday morning to see and hear us tease out the meanings behind the rest of the values - with, thankfully, Love at the Center.
Anne Watson Born
* We celebrate that we are all sacred beings, diverse in culture, experience, and theology. We covenant to learn from one another in our free and responsible search for truth and meaning. We embrace our differences and commonalities with Love, curiosity, and respect.

Many of us are feeling deep concern about the impact of the election on our neighbors. Here is one action you can take right now to affect change: enact the Equal Rights Amendment. Please act today. | |
PASS THE ERA NOW! Contact President Biden and Congress and demand this now!
President Biden can stop Project 2025 from rolling back women's rights, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ rights by publishing the fully ratified Equal Rights Amendment in the US Constitution before he leaves office. Please reach out to President Biden and ask your friends to do so as well.

Climate Action Task Force Meeting - Saturday, November 16, 2024, 10am-12pm
You are invited to our Climate Action Task Force Meeting this Saturday, November 16th from 10am -12noon at FUUSN in the Children's Chapel. Our agenda is to brainstorm what priorities we want to focus on this church year, including what we'd like to have happen in April for Earth Day. There is a new state legislative session starting in January, and our partners at Green Newton are doing cool things as well. So bring your thoughts about what you'd like to help make happen. (State and local level climate action will be an antidote to the lack of action we expect at the federal level over the upcoming 4 years. As our Revs said on Sunday..."we were made for such a time as this.")

Newcomer Potluck - Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 6pm
If you're new to FUUSN or still feel new, or if you are reconnecting after being away for some time, you are invited to a potluck dinner in the Alliance Room at FUUSN on Saturday, December 14th at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Children are welcome and child care will be provided if desired.
Come talk with other folks who are interested in Unitarian Universalism and FUUSN. There will be time to discuss our congregation's services and activities and to ask questions, as well as time just to get to know one another.
Please tell us if you can come and what you would like to bring (suggestions: an appetizer, main dish, side dish, salad, or dessert that serves 6-‐8 people). We will provide beverages.
For years, these friendly, informal potluck suppers have been a favorite way for new people and current members to get to know each other better. We look forward to having this opportunity to be with you!
