Wonderful Day in Santa Barbara

Women's Conference

On Saturday, September 10, 150 Spanish-speaking women gathered at Calvary Baptist Church in Santa Barbara for a day of inspiration, fellowship, food and reconnecting with women from other Spanish-speaking congregations within PCN. Thanks to Patsy Mazariegos, Mali Reguerin and your team for all the hard work done to make this happen!

A Bear Visits the Meeting Room

Women's Retreat

The English Women enjoyed a fantastic weekend (Sep 16-18) at Forest Home last month. One attender said:

"An amazing weekend at Forest Home for the PCN Woman’s Retreat. Vicki Smith delivered a phenomenal message, and we had the opportunity to bond with ladies and meet new friends."

On top of these opportunities, there was a bear who came into their meeting room early Sunday morning and ate all their candy! He (or she) even spit out the wrappers after eating the chocolate! Great retreat! Thank you to Vicki Smith and her team.

Church Planter and Leader Connection Event

Ontario, CA

Wednesday, October 5

JD Pearring, our Church Planting Director, is inviting PCN church planters and leaders, to meet with others who are doing similar ministries. This event, sponsored by Transformation Ministries, starts at Gateway Seminary at 10:30 am.

We will have a time of training, catered especially for church planting. This is also a time to connect and share with others, since we do ministry better when connected with other like-minded people. Afterwards, we will head over to Top Golf to finish our day with some food and golf.

Register below, space is limited.

Dr. Paul Null home with our Lord

Pacific Church Network is part of the National Network of churches called Venture Church Network, which has 8 regions within the USA. Paul faithfully served as the Regional Executive Director of N. California/Nevada for over seven years (2002-2009). Last month, Dr. Paul Null went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer.

Before his tenure as Executive Director, he faithfully pastored two churches (Calvary Baptist Church in Stockton and Sierra Community Church in South Lake Tahoe). After leaving his position as Executive Director, he moved to Salem, OR, where he pastored West Salem Baptist Church from 2012 to 2021.

Jim Smith worked alongside Paul for many years on the National Board of Directors and enjoyed their time together. Paul left a lasting impact on the Kingdom of God. Please join our fellow VCN community as we mourn the loss and lift up the Null family in prayer.

Hawaii: Remembering Jim Cook

Dr. James Cook passed into glory on Thursday, September 15. This picture is from 2016 when Jim Cook was at International Church, our PCN church in Honolulu, for their year of Jubilee celebration. On Sunday, September 18, Pastor Scott Custer, of International Church, remembered Jim Cook, their founding pastor, and WorldVenture missionary (yes, Jim had the same name as the great British explorer who visited Hawaii in the 1700's).

James Cook was 92 and left a legacy all over the world. In 1966, God led Dr. James Cook to found the International Baptist Church, as part of the Conservative Baptist Association of Churches (now called Pacific Church Network). Two years in, God miraculously provided a special property for the congregation along the Pali Highway, just 2.7 miles from downtown Honolulu. Jim then served with WorldVenture as a missionary in Sri Lanka and the Philippines. If you would like to read more about Dr. Cook’s life, we highly recommend reading his biography, "Under His Majesty’s Command.” It really is a fantastic story with Tigers, adventure and miracles. There is also a podcast from 2018 that interviews him.

Employee Retention Credit Still Available

Many of our churches have received thousands of dollars by applying for the ERC. It is still available, and all our SoCal churches qualify. Churches have told PCN they received $22,000, $15,000, $56,000, and (one that has a school) $284K!

Ministry Works, by Brotherhood Mutual, is a Christian organization that works exclusively with churches and is very familiar with the Employee Retention Credit. Visit their website, watch a short video, and then fill out the application. You will need someone with your church's financial information to do this. Once the information is entered, Ministry Works will do the rest. They will charge you only 5% of the total credit you will receive, but no more than $7,500, and many churches get much more.
