ISSS Announcements


We understand that the recent U.S. election may have raised concerns or uncertainties for many of you. As the country navigates the transition of the U.S. Presidential administrations, please know that ISSS is here to provide guidance and support through any changes.


If you have questions about your status, need assistance adjusting to new policies, or simply need a space to reflect, we are here for you. Your well-being is our priority, and we encourage you to reach out if you need support during this time.


We also invite you to engage with the various programs and events designed to help you connect with others and build a supportive community. Join us each Thursday afternoon at International Coffee Hour and take part in activities that allow you to connect with peers. You are a vital part of our campus community, and we want to ensure you feel supported and informed throughout this period.


Our team is ready to assist you with resources or help connect you to additional support services, Your peace of mind matters. Take care, and remember that we're just a message away if you need anything.

Thanksgiving Holiday Closure


ISSS will be closed for the Thanksgiving break from Wednesday Nov 27 - Friday, Nov 29. We will reopen with normal hours and services on Monday, Dec 1.


For students seeking housing information or ideas for activities over the break, please refer to our Thanksgiving Break email available here.


If you have an emergency during this time please follow standard University emergency procedures by contacting the University Police Department at 301-405-3555 or visiting the ISSS Safety and Emergency Resource page.

The International Career Collective (ICC) Career Expo is the second annual career fair for international students from 20+ different universities!  The ICC An opportunity to connect with employers and start building connections. All employers may not be hiring but could be in the future and this is the first step to explore who might be a good fit.

GRadulting Workshop Series

The GRadulting Workshop Series is weekly hour-long workshops on a variety of topics relevant to UMD graduate students. They take place throughout the spring and fall semesters on Tuesday afternoons via Zoom or in person. Free lunch is provided for in-person events. Practical information is presented by experts from both on- and off-campus, and many workshops are recorded for those who are unable to attend in person.
