Breathe California CEO Receives TB Elimination Hero Award

Breathe California CEO Margo Sidener has been recognized as a 2023 California TB Elimination Hero by the California Tuberculosis Controllers Association (CTCA). During her 40 years at the helm of Breathe California’s San Jose office, Margo founded the Santa Clara County TB Prevention Partnership to conduct educational outreach about TB to high risk populations as well as the general public, train medical providers to improve TB outcomes, and organize TB coalition meetings. Thanks to her work, tens of thousands of people in the Bay Area know more about TB than before and can make informed decisions to safeguard their own health as well as that of their family and community. JUUL Will Pay California $175 Million Settlement

After having addicted an entire generation of youth across the country to nicotine, JUUL has been forced to pay six states a settlement of nearly half a billion dollars. The funds California receives will help pay for e-cigarette research, education, and enforcement efforts AND JUUL will be prohibited from targeting youths in its future advertising and promotions. There can be no true justice in this situation, but at least the payout will hurt JUUL where it matters to them most - their pocketbook. Learn more.

Our organization’s history includes decades of environmental stewardship and advocacy successes related to improving air quality by educating the public and promoting legislation and policies.
