Hello DeAnn,
I hope this finds you well.
It is bittersweet because I am not welcoming our students to begin another school year.
I appreciate the many emails and phone calls we have gotten about our decision not to offer classes this year.
We are not closing; we are reorganizing and looking forward to relaunching fall of 2023. We know there is a need for MileStone Academy, and we will be looking at ways to take what we have learned over the years and partner with like-minded organizations, providers, advocates, and people who care about educating our youth to bring MSA back stronger.
All our students have been placed, and I was able to visit them and let them know I will be here for them and that they can reach out to me when needed. I am vested in their success, and even though we are not together daily, I want to help them achieve their goals.
This summer was different from the last 8. I was not consumed with creating a rich educational experience for our students. I was packing our belongings and putting them in storage. It was hard work but worthwhile – I could see how far we have come from our beginning and reminisced.
The packing and reminiscing have made me even more determined to be able to offer services to students in need. How? I am not sure, but we will meet with like-minded organizations, providers, advocates, and people who care about educating our youth over the next few months.
If you care about kids that learn differently and need a chance to thrive, join us. Call me at 215 663-1160 or email me.
Respectfully,
Michele Hewitt-Webster
