Rutgers Health and RWJBarnabas Health Receive Grant to Train Learning Health Systems Professionals and Improve Care
Rutgers Health and RWJBarnabas Health received a $4,237,500 grant over five years to establish a Learning Health System Embedded Scientist Training and Research (LHS E-STaR) Center in New Jersey, LHS STAR NJ. The goal is to build a high-functioning, dynamic ‘nervous system’ for the learning health system, catalyzing bidirectional feedback whereby research informs practice and practice informs research. LHS STAR NJ will do this by developing training programs for future scientists and health professionals and conducting LHS research projects. Ultimately, the goal is to deliver higher quality, safer and more efficient patient care through innovative data-driven initiatives.
The project is funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Read the full article

The Rutgers Center for State Health Policy has developed the NJ Integrated Population Health Data (iPHD) project to facilitate and promote population health research by integrating healthcare and social services data. Its priority research areas are: 1) addressing the opioid epidemic; 2) improving maternal and child health; 3) assuring access to all and addressing social determinants of health; and 4) Conducting analyses to support New Jersey's response to COVID-19 and other public health emergencies.
If your research is in any of these four areas and would benefit from access to the iPHD, there are full and partial fee waivers available. To apply for access or fee waivers, applicants much must submit a brief, non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) to iphd@ifh.rutgers.edu by February 28th, 2024.
