Special Message from our Chair

Great news about our second building!

I have been waiting to say these words for months. We are pleased to announce that plans to construct our second building are taking shape, thanks to a partnership with The Shelter for Abused Women & Children. This marks a significant step in both organization’s commitment to creating accessible housing for vulnerable communities.

As we draw closer to completing construction of the first apartment building, we have joined forces with The Shelter for Abused Women & Children to address the pressing need for safe and secure housing for families recovering from the impacts of domestic violence. This exciting collaboration involves the construction of a second apartment building, which will be exclusively leased to the Shelter’s participants.

This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to expanding our reach and impact in the community. By providing a haven for those escaping abusive environments, we aim to create a supportive and nurturing environment for families to build and rebuild their lives.

My deepest gratitude to Shelter CEO Linda Oberhaus for teaming up with us. Both organizations agree that strengthening the community by fostering health,

education, dignity, and financial stability, empowers individuals and families

and helps them to thrive.

Applications Now Being Accepted!

The Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance (IFHA) is excited to announce the opening of applications for its soon to open apartment building in Immokalee, providing an opportunity for farmworker and low-income families to secure safe, affordable housing in the community.

As the completion of the first building draws near, IFHA is gearing up to welcome its first tenants. Applications to rent an apartment in the newly constructed building will be available starting February 22. Individuals can pick up an application in person at B-Hive Flowers & Gifts, located at 720 N 15th St, Immokalee.

Meet our Board Member: Graham Hart

Sometimes, all it takes is one picture, one look, one visit, and your life can be changed. For Graham Hart, it was that first visit to Immokalee that convinced him to do something to affect change in this vibrant but fragile community.

Between the swaying fields of crops filled with a buzz of activity from the farmworkers, and the devastation that Hurricane Irma left in its path, his life would soon intertwine with the fate of the community.

What he encountered shook him to his core. In just one visit, he could not get the images out of his mind, and he set out to make a difference.

We Urgently Need Your Help!

We are on the verge of opening the first of eight low-cost and affordable apartment buildings. We are thrilled about the progress and the positive impact these homes will have on the lives of those in need. However, we have encountered a pressing issue that requires your immediate attention and support.

With new families moving in soon, it is absolutely crucial to provide them with a safe and engaging play area for their children. We hope you can help us move up the timeline for the construction of the playground. Your support can make an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of these children and their families.

To jumpstart the campaign, Graham and Linda Hart, two amazing supporters of our mission, have offered a gift matching opportunity. They will match, dollar for dollar, every gift made to this special appeal, up to $30,000 so that we can get to the level we need to make sure that when the families move in, a playground will be waiting for the children. This is an excellent way to make your gift go twice as far! To make a gift, just click on the link below. Thank you!

Construction Update: Signed Wallboard is Installed

Several months ago a ceremony was held at our housing site where we invited our guests to sign the wallboards that will be installed in the first building of our project. Dozens from the community came to sign these symbolic boards in what were to become the last drywall installed. Good news: The wallboards have been installed!

IFHA co-founder and chair Dr. Buntzman, along with Carleton Cleveland III, IFHA's development chair, helped fasten the final four pieces of drywall into place for the first apartment building. Each piece contained signatures, prayers and messages of hope from community leaders, business partners and donors who attended the wall raising event last year which marked the start of the construction.
