The 2024 Take Stock in Children Graduation honoring this year’s 30 graduating Nassau County seniors was held at Yulee High School on May 14, 2024. The evening began with welcoming remarks from Robin Lentz, Executive Director. Special guests for the ceremony included Dr. Kathy Burns, Superintendent of Nassau County Schools. She was on hand to introduce the newly inducted 2024 scholars and lead them in the commitment ceremony and oath. Regina Lee, Chair, Take Stock in Children Board of Directors, recognized mentors, and their dedication to their students. The highlight of the evening was the senior and alumni remarks. One graduate from each high school was selected by the staff to address the incoming scholars. Stephanie Santos, FBHS; Laila Spatcher, HMSH; Elizabeth Holton, WNHS; and Jonah Blutcher, YHS, each provided their own unique take on being a Take Stock scholar, offering up tidbits of wisdom and advice. During the Alumni Remarks, Alondra Vega, UNF, BA & BS 2023, spoke to the graduates about getting involved on campus because the connections made can be essential during your post-graduate journey. Mentors were on hand to place the Take Stock medal around their mentee’s neck, culminating the ceremony and leading to a round of applause for the graduating seniors. Following the ceremony, students participated in the tradition of tossing their graduation caps in the air and enjoyed a cupcake topped with their photo and chosen college/university.

Our 30 Take Stock grads have been accepted to a variety of post-secondary schools, including UF, FSU, UNF, UCF, USF, VC, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, SF, and FSCJ. Joshua Modupe will be continuing his football career at U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Jonah Blutcher was one of five Take Stock students statewide selected to participate in The Inspire Scholars Program of the UCF Burnett Honors College, which will provide the opportunity to study abroad, as well as other academic opportunities. All 30 students will be starting college either this summer or in the fall and 14 of the graduates will be living on campus. Take Stock Nassau is thrilled to share the gratitude for generous donors this year who helped fund dorm scholarships for students with a need. We are excited to see where the future takes them!
