Core Values
Collaboration, Empathy, Advocacy, Diversity and Passion

Over the past few months, we’ve been bustling with activity.

We hosted two engaging chamber chats, participated in several ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and now have our dedicated team for 2024 in place. We also welcomed a new director to our ranks. We’ve been actively championing our community with our elected officials. Last year’s achievements were celebrated in style at the Let’s Tickle the Ivories gala, and we represented our members at various community-wide events.

Join us as we recap these exciting happenings and stay informed about what’s unfolding at your chamber!

Community Health Network Celebrates Grand Opening
of Its 14th Location in Pasadena
On January 25th, the South Belt—Ellington Chamber of Commerce and Pasadena Chamber of Commerce jointly hosted a ribbon-cutting event for Community Health Network's latest location, 6243 Fairmont Parkway.

Many familiar and new faces attended the event, which celebrated the company's focus on providing quality care that uplifts, supports, and shapes healthy communities.

The company is committed to addressing financial and social barriers and has fourteen locations in Brazoria, Galveston, and Harris Counties. These locations are equally dedicated to supporting the communities in which they reside.

Congratulations, Community Health Network, a Gold Level Investor, on your 14th location!
Kolache Factory is Welcomed to the
South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce
On Thursday, February 9th, representatives from the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce welcomed Kolache Factory, a new member at 1439 E. Broadway in Pearland.

In addition to the traditional ribbon cutting, we also spent time with proprietor Tony Palomin, who shared very interesting facts about the business.

Here's what we learned:
The recipe for the dough is proprietary and because of that, makes its taste unique.

The kolaches are prepared fresh each day. The shop opens at 5:30 a.m., and the preparation begins.

What kolaches are offered depends on the day of the week trends.

The busiest times are between 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., however, the store is open until 2:00 p.m.

There is always a special flavor for the month.

Tony's location offers drive-through service and is strategically close to a Starbucks.

Tony values the community and routinely supports nonprofits in the area.

Stop by and visit Tony and his staff, and enjoy a great product sprinkled with ample hospitality!
MOTU Stop Hosted Five-Chamber Ribbon Cutting
MOTU Stop, the newest Gold Level Investor of the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce, hosted a five-chamber ribbon-cutting event on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

What an inspiring display of hard work and perseverance!

The grand opening was a huge success. Attendees were treated to various sweet and savory delights, exciting giveaways, and background music that perfectly matched the lively atmosphere. The event drew a large crowd, with cars lining up as far as the eye could see for the chance to purchase unleaded gasoline at just $1.00 per gallon.

The chamber and four others participated in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting to mark the opening of the latest convenience store in a line of services that includes sports bars, restaurants, and car washes.

The family behind Motu Stop named their establishment in honor of their late pet, Motu, known for his playful energy and unwavering devotion. Their respect for the community and commitment to quality were displayed throughout the event.

Welcome to the South Belt-Ellington area!

Government Affairs

February Chamber Chat Features Memorial Hermann's
Dr. Nadish Garg
As February, the month emphasizing heart health came to a close, Dr. Nadish Garg, a Cardiovascular Disease Specialist at Memorial Hermann, offered a Q&A session on different aspects of heart health.

He discussed the ideal components of a balanced diet, the importance of daily physical exercise, an awareness of concerning symptoms and trends of the disease, including its prevention based on cultures, geographic regions, and genetics.

The key takeaway from the session was that decisions made early in life can significantly impact one's future heart health.

To give our hearts a head start, we should avoid saturated fats and processed foods and establish a daily exercise regimen that we enjoy.

We thank b1bank for sponsoring this morning's event and D.K. Smith Photography for their photography services.

Audience members were impressed and felt like they had cracked the retirement code!

South Belt Community Partnership Begins Formation
The South Belt Community Partnership organizational meetings, held at the Gardens in February and April, are in their infancy planning stages.

The Partnership has defined its mission and vision, elected officers, and appointed board members representing eight HOAs.

The organization aims to create a stronger foundation for addressing community concerns beyond individual neighborhoods' jurisdiction.

Community supporters included local, state, and federal elected officials, this chamber, and the South Belt-Ellington Leader.

For the foreseeable future, meetings will be held monthly, usually Tuesdays, during the fourth week of each month.

Community Chronicles
Lisa Holbrook, South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, represented the chamber at the Clear Creek Education Foundation's annual partnership luncheon on February 7, 2024.

Campuses in Clear Creek ISD served by our chamber are Weber Elementary, Westbrook Intermediate, Clear Brook High School, and Clear Horizons Early College High School.
Participating in the Memorial Hermann Southeast campus's annual Chili Cook-Off Contest is a culinary pleasure. It was deliciousness from nine competitors who provided us with unique chili and many enhancements to influence our decision-making! Hosted on Go Texan Day on Friday, February 23rd, it was a festive affair with cleverly-themed booths and enthusiastic contestants.

The hospital is one of our chamber's founding members and Silver Level investors and has always been a great supporter!
Precinct 2 residents now have a completed Phase 1 Trail Improvement Project at Juneteenth Park, which was celebrated by South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce members on February 29th.

Grab your sneakers and come out to enjoy the new trail!
As an AMOCO Federal Credit Union guest, Lisa Holbrook attended the Communities In Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County's Round-up for Kids Gala on March 1st.

Close to 300 attendees came together to raise funds to allow CIS to fulfill its mission of empowering students and building a brighter future for our community.
It was a delectable evening of deliciousness as Lisa Holbrook attended the Soroptimist of Alvin's annual Men Who Cook as an AMOCO Federal Credit Union guest.
We appreciate AMOCO Federal Credit Union, and specifically Kevin Venable, for inviting our office to the AMOCO Partner Mixer during the Galveston County Fair & Rodeo Sneak Peek on Thursday, April 11th.

AMOCO is deeply committed to supporting chambers of commerce, as they are members of twelve!
Lisa Holbrook attended the Bay Area Transporation Partnerships's 2nd Annual Infrastructure Summit on Friday, April 19th at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center in League City. The theme was partnerships and funding opportunities for municipalities.
Lisa Holbrook attended the Pasadena ISD CTE's Annual Rise and Shine Partnership Breakfast on Thursday, April 24th.

What a series of accomplishments and accolades this program provides.

Not every student sees a four-year collegiate institution as the next step in their professional journey. Public schools offer options to all students, recognizing the goal is to help them achieve these milestones so they can join the workforce and contribute to their community's economic vitality.
The chamber offers its heartiest congratulations to Shell Federal Credit Union on the grand opening of its new Service and Support Facility in the heart of the City of Deer Park.

The chamber appreciates the opportunity to attend and celebrate with fellow chamber colleague Paula Moorhaj and her staff.

We are blessed to have Reyna Lara Lagunas - Shell FCU on our Board of Directors.
