Adult Formation Series Continues

Letters to Marc about Jesus

by Henri Nouwen

Discussion Group facilitated by Carolyn Edge

Continues through May 12th at 9 AM in the Ennis Suite

During this offering, we look at seven letters Henri Nouwen wrote to his 19-year-old nephew. We focus on how the resurrected Jesus makes his way into our spiritual lives as the God that sets us free, is loving and compassionate, and yet is also hidden. If you missed last week's session, don't let that stop you from coming this week!

Green Team News You Can Use

The Green Team's next meeting will be on Sunday, May 19th at 9 AM in the Parlor.

Episcopal Youth Community

The Church of the Good Shepherd is blessed with an active and vibrant EYC (Episcopal Youth Community), made up of youth from 6th through 12th grades, with the dedicated support of parents, clergy, and adult parishioners.

EYC meets 5:30-7:30 on Sunday evenings during the school year in the Parish Life Center (with occasional breaks for holidays and special parish events). EYC meetings and activities offer rich opportunities: service projects (benefitting both the parish and the community), spiritual development, educational enrichment, recreational outings and activities, events, meals, and fun!

Sunday, May 5 || Cinco De Mayo

5:30 - 7:30 PM

This Sunday night, the EYC will be attending the La Grande Cinco De Mayo Festival on Moore Square. Festivities include live Latin music and folklore performance, authentic Mexican food, and dozens of arts and crafts vendors. Please arrive at the church promptly at 5:30 PM. We will be eating dinner at the festival, so don’t forget to bring some cash for food and any other shopping you might want to do. Pick up will be at the church at 7:30 PM. See you then.

Saturday, May 11 || Umstead State Park

10:30 AM - 1 PM

On Saturday, May 11, the EYC will be going on a hiking trip in Umstead State Park. We will be hiking Pott’s Branch Trail, a relatively easy 1.5 mile loop that meanders along Crabtree Creek and also passes near the Big Lake. We will gather at the trailhead at 10:30 AM. Enter Umstead Park through the Crabtree Creek (Glenwood Ave) Gate and proceed past the visitor’s center all the way to Big Lake overflow parking lot, which is at the very end of the main road. A picnic lunch will be provided. Pick up will be at the same parking lot at 1 PM. All parents and siblings are invited to attend.
