First-year preliminary fall enrollment numbers show 6,120 first-year students — a record number, nearly 800 more than the previous high in 2019. Similarly, overall preliminary enrollment is also at a record high of nearly 33,000 students, up nearly 5% over last year.
UK’s six-year graduation rate is now at nearly 69% — a record — and more than 10% points higher than it was a decade ago. Four-year-and-five-year graduation rates are also at record levels. In fact, the four-year graduation rate — 55% — is 23 percentage points higher than it was in 2010.
Overall, preliminary enrollment for underrepresented minority students is up 7% from the previous year; students of color now represent more than 16% of the student body.
Almost 25% of UK’s first-year class are first-generation students, consistent with the overall student population and with numbers over the last several years.

The University of Kentucky is a partner in the new Mid-South Innovation Corps Hub, announced by the National Science Foundation (NSF) this month.
NSF Innovation Corps (I-Corps) Hubs provide experiential entrepreneurial training to academic researchers across all fields of science and engineering. I-Corps Hubs form the operational backbone of the National Innovation Network — a network of universities, NSF-funded researchers, local and regional entrepreneurial communities and other federal agencies — that help researchers translate fundamental research results to the marketplace.
“UK Innovate is proud to partner with these eight other incredible universities and their innovation and entrepreneurship leaders to form the Mid-South I-Corps Hub, ” said Ian McClure, UK associate vice president for research, innovation and economic impact and executive director of UK Innovate.

The Center for Economic Analysis of Rural Health (CEARH) was asked by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy to provide a summary of research that describes economic trends related to health care over the last decade.
- Rural America is diverse. Parts of Rural America (Western United States) are experiencing population growth and others (Rural South, Appalachia, Native Lands) continue to see a decline in population.
- There have been 140 rural hospital closures between January 2010 and July 2022. While some facilities have converted to other health care purposes, the majority have completely shut down. Closures impact access to emergency care due to increased ambulance times.
- There continues to be a shortage of health professionals in many rural areas. For some professions, there is an excess supply of providers in urban areas and a shortage in rural places.

Sixteen students completed the capstone project course (MKT 740) and have graduated from the MS Supply Chain Management (MSSCM) program. Three more will graduate in December of 2022.
