Building and Grounds Spring Cleanup Day

The Building and Grounds Team is hosting a Spring Cleanup Day on May 18th, from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm, to help spruce up the Church for a fresh start to the Summer. Bring gloves if you have them.

  • Painting outside railing
  • Seeding
  • Distributing mulch
  • Planting for the Living Quilt Garden - bring your plants (see below).

Work has begun in the back of our church for a meditation space including a Living Quilt Garden. Like a patchwork quilt, it represents our community that is vibrant, life-giving, sometimes messy, and full of love and variety! To reflect these qualities, we are offering space for any congregants to bring a perennial plant or two from your own garden that brings you joy, and plant it in our Living Quilt Garden outside by the back door. This space will be open for contemplation, meditation and prayer.

Summer Sow 2 Grow

God is a surprise, and so are our garden bags! This Summer, all youth from the Terrific 2's through High School students are invited to take a garden bag home with them starting in May.

There is a mystery assortment of vegetables and plants inside each one, and whatever it yields, children are able to keep the produce or bring it to church or school, and are encouraged to take pictures of the plant throughout the summer and send it to the church office to share in the newsletter.

Volunteer Appreciation Sunday - May 19th!

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated community of volunteers to keep our church running! Please join us to celebrate and show gratitude for all our volunteers with a catered breakfast from 9:15 - 10:15 am on Sunday, May 19th.

South Dakota Educational Scholarships

The South Dakota Conference UCC values education, young people, and those who answer a call to ministry at any age. Scholarships may also be available to applicants pursuing programs not offered in South Dakota institutions. Some special funds are earmarked for those who are entering into ministry as a second career and have the challenges of family, jobs, and extra travel.

Weekly Lectionary Scripture

John 15:9-17

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name. I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.

Next week's Scripture: John 17:6-19
