Principal Update

As I sneak this principal’s column in right under the wire for publication, just a quick shout out to Mary Cefalu for producing the newsletter each week! She is getting you all the information and making sure my article gets published…even when I am very late getting it to her! Thank you, Mrs. Cefalu!!

Thank you also to all the parents coordinating the iHeart Teacher Fest on Friday. It is going to be a crazy fun evening - I hope you can come out and enjoy an evening celebrating the teachers and enjoying each other’s company. It is a great time to hang out with other STS parents and get to know each other!

The annual May Mailing is about to launch! Watch your email for the series of emails outlining the steps you need to take to prepare for next year and key calendar dates. The first email is the overview and the master “to do” list, subsequent emails coming every 2-3 days in May will contain separate information. All the emails will be posted on the website for your reference. Thank you, Mrs. Soby, for getting this all together!

Our students have really been on a role these past few weeks in athletics! The boys 7th grade volleyball team won the conference undefeated last week, Joey G will be representing the boys track team at State and the girls team just found out they also qualified for state as a team!

On March 27th, 2024, Zoe Anaya and Makena Kapusinski had the honor of representing the United States the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance at the World Irish Dance Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.  After many months and

over 100 hours of practice, their incredible team placed 2nd in the world.  Way to represent STS, lassies!

I hope everyone is making plans to attend the evening with Dr. Patrick Kirkland from the ACE program at the University of Notre Dame next Wednesday, May 15 in the O’Brien. Dr. Kirkland, a teacher of teachers, will be speaking about methods of teaching math in elementary school. Come and connect with other STS parents as we learn more about math instruction in 2024!

Congratulations to our First Communicants! Our second graders (and a special third grader) made their first Holy Communion this past Saturday on a beautiful May morning! Thank you to Mrs. Lahart, Mrs. Walczynski, and Mrs. Vogt for all their work preparing the day…and getting the pancakes ready for the annual Pancake Celebration this past Tuesday!

Keep an eye out for information from the PA about the annual Field Day on May 30 – get ready for a crazy fun morning. The PA has been speaking with the Student Council about Field Day, gathering their input on what would make the day fun and they are really building a great morning for us all. The more volunteers we have, the smoother the morning will go so watch for the opportunity to be part of the fun and volunteer for Field Day!

Hope to see everyone Friday evening as we celebrate our teachers!

New Family Ambassadors

We are looking for volunteers to become New Family Ambassadors! What this will entail for our “veteran” families is being paired up with a new family and kind of taking them under your wing. Making sure they are aware of all the great events going on throughout the year, maybe having a play date with the kids, or even just a simple text to check in on how they adjusting to the new school year. We plan to kick off this new idea at the preschool meet and greet on May 17th at 10am. This event is not a requirement just a first opportunity to potentially meet your assigned family. Once I see how many people we can get signed up I will start pairing and reach out individually with contact info. Please feel free to reach out with any other questions!

Our Students

Exploring the nation's capital with our fantastic 8th graders!  From the monuments to the museums, every step is a lesson in our nation's story! It was a great trip! Thank you to our teachers and the chaperones who joined our soon to be graduates for this amazing experience!

7th graders were blessed with a beautiful day to explore their state capital. While in Springfield, students explored and learned at The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, State Capitol, Lincoln's Tomb and Lincoln's Home.

We love all the traditions at STS including Mother's Day tea/picnic in 4th grade. Students created a special keepsake "all about my mom" and read it to the class while moms listened and enjoyed. The picnic was perfect too!

Congrats to our Communicants who received the sacrament of First Holy Communion on Saturday. May God bless them abundantly on their continued path of faith and love. For more pictures, check out our Facebook and or Instagram page.

Second graders participated in Mass by reading, bringing up the gifts, and receiving Jesus for the first time at school Mass! They celebrated afterwards with a delicious Pancake Breakfast where we practiced good manners and played games like 2nd Grade Trivia to show our good sportsmanship!

STS Athletics

Our 7th grade STS boys volleyball team has smashed their way to an undefeated season!  With the guidance of their coaches, determination, and teamwork, they clinched victory in their final match against St. James this past Sunday, securing the title of Northwest Catholic Conference champions!

What a season it's been for our incredible track and field team! We are proud to announce some big winners from last week's sectionals. Congrats to our girls' team for seizing 2nd place, and to our boys' team for taking 3rd! A VERY special round of applause goes to 7th grader, Joey G for earning that coveted spot at the STATE LEVEL in both the 110 hurdles and 400m dash – way to represent, Joey! As we celebrate our victories, we also bid farewell to Ellia and Emma, we'll miss you on the team, but know you'll continue to shine at PHS! Here's to the memories made, the friendships forged, and the successes achieved. Thank you to our amazing coaches for your time and talent! We look forward to even more greatness ahead! Way to go STS Trojans!
