Fishing in the Keep of Silence

by Linda Gregg

There is a hush now while the hills rise up

and God is going to sleep. He trusts the ship

of Heaven to take over and proceed beautifully

as he lies dreaming in the lap of the world.

He knows the owls will guard the sweetness

of the soul in their massive keep of silence,

looking out with eyes open or closed over

the length of Tomales Bay that the egrets

conform to, whitely broad in flight, white

and slim in standing. God, who thinks about

poetry all the time, breathes happily as He

repeats to Himself: there are fish in the net,

lots of fish this time in the net of the heart.

MOTHER’S DAY BLANKET DRIVE

Members of the Community Care, Mission Outreach Team will be selling cards for Mother’s Day before and after the service the next two Sundays (May 5th & May 12th).

A $10.00 donation will provide a Church World Service Blanket to provide comfort to those in need throughout the world and a card telling a loved one that a blanket has been purchase in their honor.

Thank you for your continued support of this heartfelt mission.

On Communion Sunday Help break bread with the community.

Christian Education is collecting food for our Blessing Box. The demand has been steady and the community has been using our donations quickly. With the end of the school year rapidly approaching we are looking for child & summer friendly donations for our Plainville families.

Please bring your donations for the Blessing Box to church on Sunday, May 5th.

We will be collecting your donations in a plastic bin in the Narthex.

If you would prefer to make a monetary donation to be used towards the Blessing Box, please either send a check to the Church Office or use the Donations tab on our website and allocate your gift to the Blessing Box in the memo section. uccplainville.org

Thanks in advance!!

Calling All Knitters!!
