Spring has sprung in Vermont! While the lingering chill of winter may not be completely gone, the vibrant colors of new growth are a welcome reminder that warmer days and outdoor connections are just around the corner. We hope you'll join us this month for exciting CVOEO events like In Their Shoes and the ever-popular Garden Day.

In addition to these events, you'll find below a resource section dedicated to navigating the 3SquaresVT program. Whether you're already a participant or curious to learn more, this section will provide valuable information and answer any questions you may have, while also ensuring that everyone has fresh food on the table all spring long.

This May, let's embrace the spirit of the season and come together! With your help, we can build a stronger, more connected Vermont.

Garden Day

Free seeds and seedlings

Garden Day will be held on Friday, May 24, in Burlington. In partnership with 3SquaresVT, CVOEO will distribute donated seeds and seedlings to help Vermonters save money by growing their own vegetables. CVOEO also invites Vermont residents to apply for 3SquaresVT while participating in the event. Learn more about this program below.

Thank you to our amazing partners at Intervale Community Farm and Essex Westford School District for providing the seeds and seedlings, and to Green Mountain Power for sponsoring Garden Day!

You can join us as we work towards environmental justice! Donate today to support CVOEO's environmental justice programs, including Garden Day, Community Ambassadors, Food Recovery, and more.

In Their Shoes

Fundraiser for Franklin & Grand Isle programs

Please join us on Saturday, May 18, for the 2024 In Their Shoes event, hosted by CVOEO’s Samaritan House, Franklin and Grand Isle Community Action, and Voices Against Violence/Laurie’s House, in partnership with Spectrum Youth & Family Services.

As a family-friendly event and critical fundraiser for local emergency service and food providers, In Their Shoes aims to educate the community about homelessness in Franklin and Grand Isle Counties by offering an opportunity to learn about the daily challenges that our unhoused neighbors encounter.

Getting fresh food on the table

Looking for more ways to put food on the table? 3SquaresVT can help!

3SquaresVT, Vermont's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, helps income-eligible individuals and families buy groceries with an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card at stores, co-ops, and farmers markets. This provides access to healthy food and supports local businesses.

To apply, you can go directly to the Hunger Free Vermont or Vermont Foodbank websites.

Need help with the application? CVOEO's Community Action Network staff is here to help. Contact your local team:
