Unit in Action - Elk River

Congratulations to Elk River District's first female Eagle Scout, Kaitlyn Brown. She recently completed her Eagle Scout Project of the Sensory Trail Communications Board for Horse-Play. She is in Scouts BSA Troop 1581.She is the first Eagle Scout in her troop and the first female Eagle Scout in the Elk River District of the Middle Tennessee Council. She is also the first female Order of the Arrow member in her Troop and the Elk River District.

Kaitlyn began Scouts BSA in July 2019 and has achieved the Eagle Scout rank in under three years. She has earned over 42 merit badges, including all 21 Eagle required badges as well as additional elective badges focusing on her areas of interest. She has earned four Palms in addition to achieving her Eagle Scout rank and continues to work on additional merit badges leading to more Palms in the future.

She has served at Boxwell Reservation as a Counselor in Training at summer camp and has attended Youth Leadership Training as well as National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) at Latimer High Adventure Reservation.

While the completion of her Eagle Scout project is the pinnacle of her Scouting career, she continues to serve with her troop and Council in many capacities. Next summer she will be attending Sea Base High Adventure Camp in the Florida Keys with members of her troop. Kaitlyn encourages her fellow Scouts as well as other girls in the community interested in Scouts BSA to pursue their goals through Scouting.

Kaitlyn appreciates everyone for their support in the course of the Eagle Scout project for the Horseplay Sensory Trail Communications Board she designed.
