Dear Educators,

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We celebrate the diverse and beautiful heritages of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. This month, we give special thanks to those who serve and have served in the military as part of Military Appreciation Month. Also, we speak to the importance of talking about mental health as part of Mental Health Awareness Month. This month, we also celebrate Mother’s Day by giving thanks to the mothers and to all who have nurtured us and who have helped us grow. You have our love and gratitude always!

Teacher Reporting Labs from PBS NewsHour: By teachers, for teachers, Teacher Reporting Labs (TRL) is a teacher-led podcast where educators report back on a mix of topics, triumphs and challenges they face in the classroom through exploratory and candid conversations. Learn more here: https://studentreportinglabs.org/trl/

We invite you to join us for this month’s virtual Educator Sessions: Tuesday, May 7 from 6-7PM: KLRN Family and Educator Session: Mental Health and Well-Being; Tuesday, May 14 from 6-7PM: Preparing Your Family for Kindergarten, and Thursday, May 16 from 6-8PM: KLRN Family and Educator Session: The Healthy Kids Project: Encouraging Kindness in Children. Thank you to our friends at San Antonio Medical Foundation and Firstmark Credit Union for their support of these sessions.

Friends, always remember that you are important, and what you do makes a truly positive difference. When the world needs a helping hand, you say Count Me In!

Thank you for the work that you do, and thank you for being you!

With Appreciation,

Watt Watchers: Cooling and Heating

Without the technicalities of refrigerant and a high pressure system, you can mimic the process of air conditioning in your classroom with a bowl of ice and a simple fan. Place the bowl of ice in front of the fan and let it run for several minutes. Ask students to feel the temperature difference.
