Dear Friends, People of the Way, Jesus Followers

How does one man’s life and death change the course of history?

PAUSE HERE…

How does one man’s life and death change the course of human history?

DO YOU HAVE AN ANSWER? A GUESS? AN IDEA? PAUSE HERE…

Of course the answer is JESUS, however, how does one man’s life and death change the course of human history?

THE ANSWER?

One conversation at a time. The Book of Acts (or ACTions of the Apostles) is the story of the start and the spread of the church.

AND REMEMBER: YOU ARE the chURch!

Acts opens with Jesus returning to heaven and the Holy Spirit coming in Jesus’ place. Jesus’ followers start following the Holy Spirit’s lead, and 28 chapters later, the good news was spreading around the world. It continues to spread today because of YOU.

WHY? Because YOU ARE the chURch!

At Hosanna, we say it like this: We are called, gathered and sent to be a people living, loving and serving as Jesus did so that all will know Him.

Beginning this week, the Thursday Bible Study will be traveling through the Book of Acts, one chapter at a time. The Bible Study is at 10:00 am. Join any time!

This Sunday, May 5, the Completing the Vision Capital Campaign moves to the Commitment Stage: a three-year pledge. If you are a member or friend of Hosanna, you have received a Pledge Card mailing; these Pledge Cards will also be available on Sunday and will be brought forward during worship. This three-year pledge is above our General Fund giving.

I know that a three-year pledge is not possible for everyone. My hope is that everyone would use this time to make a consistent commitment to the General Fund giving at Hosanna. The General Fund fuels our daily mission to LIVE, LOVE and SERVE.

As always, thank you for the many ways you live, love and serve.

Member Spotlight

In 2021, we moved to Forest Lake from Coon Rapids. We were excited about moving to a house with more land while also being close to Lakes International Language Academy.

Soon after, we also learned about one of our great neighbors – Hosanna Lutheran Church. As parents, we come from different faith backgrounds (Catholic and Presbyterian) but have found Hosanna to be a comfortable and welcoming faith community as we raise our three kids (currently 6, 7, and 13 years old). We appreciate Hosanna’s flexible approach to faith formation and emphasis on creating meaningful experiences and relationships in the faith journey.

We were especially drawn to Hosanna’s focus on mission and service, including priorities such as the Feed My Starving Children MobilePack, which we recently participated in as a family. We have also had lots of fun at family events, such as “Fall Fest” and “Cocoa and Carols.” Hosanna is a great neighbor that has welcomed us to Forest Lake. We look forward to continuing to be involved!

Ramblings from Chris, The Youth Guy

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

On Sunday evening, we gathered at Hosanna Lutheran Church for an evening of fellowship, food, and faith. It was labeled as a "Celebration Banquet" and the only thing necessary for attendance was to walk through the doors. It was sure to be a busy night, so I knew just who to ask when looking for a little more 'youthful' assistance...

Completing the Vision

We invite you to set aside 30 minutes for our 24-hour prayer vigil this coming Thursday, May 2, 9am—Friday, May 3, 9am. Prayer resources will be provided.

Join us this weekend, May 5, for our COMMITMENT CELEBRATION, during worship. Come early and stay late! Get ready to be inspired by great preaching, awe-inspired music, scrumptious food, and wonderful opportunities to connect with new and old friends!

“The book of Acts is a continuation of the Gospel of Luke, following Jesus' followers as they are given the power of God's Spirit and tasked with spreading the good news of God's Kingdom to the ancient world. This is the beginning of the international, multiethnic Church.”

We will walk through Acts and talk about the Holy Spirit, the beginnings of the Church, the Kingdom of God and much more! Join us every Thursday morning at 10 AM for the next several months! Can’t wait to have you join us. Questions or concerns feel free to reach out to Pastor Dave! daveg@hosannaforestlake.net
