“Meet, Greet, and Eats”

Worship Greeter Training

4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13

in the Sanctuary. 

This will be a chance for all current and anyone wishing to be a greeter to: meet some of the other greeters, hear from Pastor Will about why greeting is so important, provide feedback on what is working, suggest improvements, and join a quick tour of the sanctuary building.

Celebrate the last day before Lent at the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Feb 13, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Enjoy pancakes (including GF), sausage, fruit, beverages and fellowship. Pastor Kittinger will also be preparing the ashes for the Ash Wednesday service during this event – but not in the kitchen!

A free will offering will be taken to help defray expenses for those attending The National Youth Gathering this summer. All are welcome!

Thank you to my Emmanuel Church Family for your generosity. You helped me reach my goal of 50 School kits (backpacks) and 50 Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief. These Kits plus the Baby Care Kits and quilts will be taken to a warehouse in New Windsor, MD. When there is a disaster, anywhere in the world or USA, they will be distributed to those areas.

I also want to thank the wonderful ladies who helped assemble and box the back packs & personal care kits.  I plan to continue collecting for these two kits in 1024 with your help. I'm happy to have Pam Becker and Peggy Zenter join and help me during this coming year.  You are a wonderful giving congregation.

 For all those Julia Child clones out there, here are some tips to help you in the kitchen:

• To keep moisture in ground beef when frying, add ½ teas. baking soda per pound to the meat 20 min. BEFORE browning.
• When dropping cookie dough on the cookie sheet dip the spoon in milk first to prevent sticking. I find that a tongue gets it off the spoon nicely, too!

• Speaking of cookies…if you want to keep soft cookies soft, put a slice of bread in the container that you keep them in. 
• For peanut butter which won't come out of a measuring cup, rub it with margarine first. (Finger works well too, then you can just lick it.)
