Letter from the President

Dear Alumna,

It is hard to believe that in less than a month, the Class of 2024 will graduate at The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen and will officially become alumnae of The Catholic High School of Baltimore! Many of our Senior events are soon to begin, starting with the Miss Catholic High assembly on Monday, April 29.

This edition of the Alumnae Monthly Update shares information on many of the upcoming reunions. You will also find ways to stay connected and support Catholic High such as attending Cub Classic Golf Outing. I look forward to seeing you soon at one of our events!

The Alumnae Giving Project

Hello, Spring, and all our wonderful donors!

Because of your generosity, The Alumnae Giving Project was able to make a donation to a food pantry in April. The Project also gave clothing and other needed items to Assisi House and Streets of Hope for distribution to the needy.

In addition, The School Sisters of Notre Dame sent us many ‘THANK YOU’ notes for the Easter goodies they received last month. They assured us of remembrance in their prayers for the Alumnae of Catholic High!

Thank you for all you do to support The Alumnae Giving Project!

Catholic High Recognizes Four Employees

On April 11, Catholic High recognized our dedicated faculty and staff at the annual Employee Recognition Liturgy presided over by Fr. Timothy Dore, OFM, Conv. Following Communion, Dr. Nazelrod presented the Years of Service Awards to three of our employees, Sr. Ann Dutrow, OSF (5 Years), Ms. Cheryl Trzcinski (5 Years), and Mr. Robert Fletcher (40 Years).

In addition, we were proud to present Mr. Andrew Baker with this year's Mission Award, which recognizes an employee who goes the extra mile and who lives out Catholic High's Franciscan values each day.

Both Mr. Fletcher and Mr. Baker received a standing ovation which demonstrates their impact on the Catholic High community!

Share a special congratulatory message to our amazing faculty here!

Live Surgery Experience With Archbishop Curley

The young women in the Biomedical Program as well as our AP Biology students participated in the 7th Live From Surgery experience that Catholic High has offered! Our students, along with students from Archbishop Curley High School had the opportunity to witness a live neurosurgery through the Liberty Science Center.

The students watched a four-hour spinal fusion performed by Dr. Poulad with Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. This live surgery experience allows our students to ask the surgical team questions during the procedure in real-time!

Youth & Government Students Shine in Annapolis

Our young women had an amazing weekend in Annapolis at the annual Youth & Government Conference last week! This conference allows high school students to engage in a simulated legislative process, gaining hands-on experience in state government. This year, our young women submitted their own bills, debated them in committees, and voted on them in simulated sessions within the State House.

Notably, two bills proposed by Ava Frederick '24 and Leah Wentworth '24 successfully passed through both the House and Senate chambers during the conference, reflecting their dedication and understanding of the legislative process! These achievements highlight the impact and potential of youth involvement in civic engagement and policymaking. Congratulations, Ladies!
