Bunco Game Night - We Need a Few More Players!

Looking for a fun new way to meet other parishioners and friends? Introducing All Saints Bunco Night! We will gather for an evening of bunco, drinks, snacks, and lots of fun. This event is open to all adults - men and women.

This is a really easy game, no skills required except for being able to roll the dice! Teams of two try to roll for 21 points. Takes about an hour. Everyone is asked to bring $5, and at the end of the night there’s a first, second, third, and a booby prize.

First game will tonight, September 20 at 7:00pm. If you would like to join in on the fun,, please RSVP to Gretchen Jones or Rosaline Tignor.

Garden Workday

We need volunteers to help with a garden shed workday! We will gather Saturday, September 24 at 9:30am to work on cleaning up the large brick shed by the playground. If you are able to volunteer, even if it's just for an hour, we would appreciate the help! Please be sure to wear appropriate clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. We also recommend bringing gloves, hat, and a mask if you are sensitive to dust. Questions? Contact Gretchen Jones.

We could also use a volunteer with a truck to help haul some items to the dump. If you can help with this task, please email Gretchen to let her know.

Episcopal 101 Forum Continues This Sunday

The last Episcopal 101 forum is this Sunday, you did not need to be at the other forums in order to attend the last one. It's not too late to join interim rector Penny Nash in Thornton Hall to talk about Episcopal things. This is a class for both newcomers to the Episcopal brand of Christian practice as well as folks who grew up in the tradition but would like to brush up on what’s in the prayer book and why we do what we do and what makes us distinctive among Christian denominations. Sunday at 9:00am on September 25. No advance sign up necessary, and we’ll have coffee and breakfast sweets! Playground Sunday School will be available for children ages 3-5th grade during each forum (9:00am-10:00am).

Help Support Our Youth Group's Fundraiser

Help the All Saints Youth support kids' cancer research! For the third year in a row, our youth are participating in the countrywide Cookies for Kids Cancer. This fundraiser has provided over 18 million dollars to researchers looking for ways to make cancer treatments more effective and safer for children. This year, we are doing it a little differently. You can come to church on September 25 for the in-person sale, or, if you cannot make it to church, the youth will bring your cookies to you that day! If you donate by noon on 9/25, you can expect a cookie delivery that evening--and you can donate here. Be sure the church has your updated address, and put your name on the donation form so we know where to bring your cookies! OXO corporation is matching every donation dollar for dollar, so every donation you make will be doubled. If you have questions, contact Megan Shockley.

Youth Group Updates

Join us Sunday, September 25, 9:00 – 10:00 AM in the Youth Room, for our second Breakfast Club. We will meet to discuss faith and explore what they’d like to learn about in the coming year. These sessions will be led by Rosemary Jones, who served in the past as our Christian Education Director, and more recently helped lead confirmation classes. All youth Grades 6 – 12 are welcome! To be added to the email list, send an email to youth@allsaintsrichmond.org

Prayer Squares

If you would like a prayer square for yourself, a family member, or friend, the Saintly Stitchers have left some in small baskets in the narthex or on the round table in the cloister hallway. These small knitted items are a tangible symbol of God’s peace. People often like to take them into surgery or to keep at their bedside. If you find the basket empty, please leave your name, and we’ll keep knitting more of them. If you would like to learn how to make them, join the Saintly Stitchers, Wednesdays at 2 pm in the church library where we have plenty of needles and yarn for you. Questions? Joan Dalrymple

Congregational Care Team

We welcome any and all to the new Congregational Care Team! Our mission is to support our All Saints community and help our rector at the same time. We hope to call those unable to worship in person, send cards for special times, deliver flowers after church, and provide occasional sweet treats and meals for those in need. We will also offer visits/lay eucharistic visits for those requesting them.

We believe “many hands make light work,” and we hope you will join this new and important ministry. Please contact Wendy Brown (wnb10306@gmail.com) or Rosemary Jones (rosemarydj@verizon.net) or call the church, and Winston will notify us. You choose your time commitment: phone calls, card writing, and baking can be done from home. Flower delivery is once a quarter, and we may even have “Casserole Cooking Parties” twice a year at church! The possibilities are endless, and we welcome your input and new ideas for serving our church family!

Trip to Italy - 2023

Marie Wilcox is organizing and planning a trip to Italy for 2023. She has organized trips for middle school students and families since 2000. This time, she wants to offer an adult and older youth trip. The trip is not church sponsored or can be considered a religious trip—even though we will go to St Francis in Assisi, St Peter’s at the Vatican in Rome and St Mark’s Basilica in Venice just to name a few places.

We will travel June 19-27, 2023. *Price is valid until October 1, and then it may increase.

For more information visit the trip website.
