2024 environmental scholarship now open

We are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Richard H. and Karen R. Light Memorial Scholarship. The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a local student who plans to pursue a career in the environmental sciences.

TLVC awards this scholarship to a student each spring, in memory of Richard and Karen Light, who were active environmentalists in the Lebanon Valley. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who resides in the Lebanon Valley and is pursuing a degree in conservation, ecology, natural resources, wildlife management, water resources management or environmental sciences. Eligible students include graduating high school seniors as well as students attending Lebanon Valley College or Harrisburg Area Community College.

Save the date to golf with us!

Save the date for the Conservancy’s 2nd annual golf tournament on August 26. The tournament will take place at the beautiful, private, Audubon-certified course at Lebanon Country Club. It will run similar to last year, with registration starting at 10 am, lunch at 11 am, and a shotgun start at 12 pm. More info coming soon! Pictured:1st place winners, 2023

LFCU members - go paperless!

Go paperless with Lebanon Federal Credit Union! Paperless statements are helpful for the environment by reducing the amount of paper we use. Fewer billing statements means less demand for paper and less air pollution from paper production. Switch from paper to e-statements between Jan 1 – Mar 1, 2024, and LFCU will donate $5 per member to the Lebanon Valley Conservancy! More info here

2024 TLVC board highlights

We would like to welcome Deborah Simpson to the Conservancy board, as well as LVC student and past Light Scholarship winner, Hannah Horengic! Keep an eye out for the next few Conservancy Connections as we share spotlights on these new members as well as our current board members, including Jon Schach (president), Carol Hickey (vice president), Ron Birch (treasurer), Ned Gibble, Mike Sherman, Bob Arnold, Cavi Miller, Rob Smith, June Welch and Dr. Pat, Welch, and active emeritus Chuck Wertz. Thanks to our board members for their support and commitment to the environment and our community!

We're grateful for the response of donations, memberships, volunteers and sponsors! Your support makes it possible for us to work with landowners to save their land from development and to give back to our community by developing parks and providing educational opportunities. Thank you! -Courtney
