On Sunday, October 20, from 8am to 9:30am, the annual pancake breakfast will be served in Boulder Hall. This is the kickoff event for the Stewardship Campaign, and we will have the Stewardship Pledge Packets available for pickup. The theme this year is Community Building Together.

We are taking inspiration from Romans 15:5-7:

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”

As stewards of God's world, we should utilize our gifts from Him to honor and glorify Him. This means that we must love our neighbors as ourselves, and utilize our God-given gifts as well as what resources we have to build a stronger community in His name. In this way we will grow as individuals and as a church community in our faith.

Looking for musicians!

We are looking for musicians who would like to offer their musical gifts on worship team. This could be playing acoustic/electric guitar, vocals, piano, drums, or another solo instrument to add musical color. If you have been interested in making music in worship this way, please reach out to Ariana Recher: ariana@salemwestpres.org

The Stephen Ministry Team would like to expand! If you are a person who likes to spend time with people, listen to others’ stories, and offer caring concern and support, then consider becoming a Stephen Minister. Being a Stephen Minister is one way to reach out to people who are going through difficult and painful times. It is also a way we can individually carry out our mission of We Welcome, We Serve, We Grow. If you want to learn more about being a Stephen Minister, talk to anyone on the Stephen Ministry Team, (those of us with the blue name tags), or check out the resources on the table

below the bulletin board in Boulder Hall.

DON'T FORGET YOUR CANNED OR PACKAGED FOODS FOR TABLE OF PLENTY! Make a hungry child a happy child.

Reminder

On Sunday mornings, please remember to leave the handicapped parking spaces for those who need to be close due to mobility issues. In addition, if you arrive early, please consider the Winola lot (next to the Scout Lodge) so the closer parking is available for those who are running late. You can get your steps in!!!

Pray

For Doug White as he nears the end of his hospice journey and for his family.

In the Community

This year's Salem Peace lecture will be delivered by Dr. Roxy Manning on Wednesday, October 16, at 7 pm at St. Mark Lutheran Church downtown. Dr. Manning will be speaking on "Strengthening Democracy Through Nonviolent Dialogue". Dr. Manning is a clinical psychologist and author. She says, "Everything I do is grunded in my desire to live in a society where every person is truly valued, encouraged, and supported in their gifts, a world in which we can all belong." The Salem Peace Lecture is cosponsored by a number of community organizations including Westminster. Be sure to note change of venue this year!
