YC Christmas Cash
Tomorrow is your last chance to participate!

The YC Christmas Cash Calendars are on sale now through October 28 for $25 each.   Each calendar purchased will have a four-digit number and will enter the buyer in a daily drawing for the month of December. Each day of December has a different payout assigned. When we pull a purchaser’s calendar number on a specific date in December, they will win the amount noted on that date (we are not using PA Lottery numbers). Every purchaser has 31 chances to win, coordinating with the 31 days of the month. Winners will be posted on the YC website, www.yorkcatholic.org, and will be notified by email. The winner does not need to be present to win. Winning raffle amounts will be mailed weekly.

All orders will be placed online at http://weblink.donorperfect.com/ycchristmascash2022. Numbered calendars labeled with the purchaser's name will be sent home to the selling family for distribution after November 1.

If you have any questions about the YC Christmas Cash calendar raffle, please contact Mrs. Gick at sgick@yorkcatholic.org or 717-846-8871 x1317.

Thank you in advance for making this a successful fall fundraiser!
Haircut Policy Revision
We are revising our haircut policy with the start of the 2nd marking period on Monday, October 31. In addition to the hair regulations found on page 17 of the Student Handbook/Agenda, we are reinstating that hair for males is not permitted to fall past the tops of the ears. Please be sure to schedule haircut appointments now so students will not be in violation on October 31. Students not in compliance by October 31 will be assigned detention.

Hair and grooming policy for male students:
  • Hair should be well-groomed.
  • Hair should not be longer than the eyebrows, or over the shirt collar, or fall past the tops of the ears.
  • No shaven configuration/ridgelines in hair.
  • No unnatural hair colors, including bleaching/frosting.
  • No man-buns, pig-tails, headbands, or bandanas.
  • Sideburns may not be longer than the earlobe.
  • Male students will be cleanly shaven; young men in need of a shave will shave on site.
Uniform Change Monday

As we end the first quarter of school, we transition our dress code to 2nd quarter regulations beginning Monday, October 31. Click the button below for the Student Handbook/Agenda and go to pages 16-18 for specifics about the dress code.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, November 10, from 3:30-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM. We encourage parents to take advantage of this opportunity to talk with teachers about their student's progress or course of study. To schedule conferences, please click the button below. If you have difficulty navigating the website, please contact Mrs. Deb Gingerich at ptconference@yorkcatholic.org and she will be happy to assist you. In the event a teacher's online conference schedule is full, please email the teacher directly to request a conference time. We recommend you schedule without delay as conference slots fill quickly.
Parent Meetings for College & Career Planning

The college and career team is offering appointment times for the parents of any senior to discuss plans for post graduation. Fifteen minute appointments can be scheduled throughout the day Thursday, November 10. To make an appointment click the button below.
Bring a Friend to School
YC is holding Bring a Friend to School Day on Monday, November 14. Current students can encourage an interested friend (from dance class, scouts, a sports team, your neighbor or cousin, etc.) to spend the day at YC as a shadow student. Instead of shadowing with one of our Ambassadors, they can shadow with their friend. Please have the friend’s parent contact Mr. David Butler at dbutler@yorkcatholic.org or 717-846-8871 x1354 by Friday, November 4, to set up a visit day and to receive a permission slip. Only students with a real interest in possibly attending YC will be scheduled for this date.
Emergency Notification System
In preparation for the colder months ahead, we have updated our "One Call Now" Emergency Notification System. In the event our school schedule is adjusted due to weather, a phone call and an email will be sent to the contact information we have on file.
A text option is also available. If you opted-in to receive text messages last school year, you do not need to do anything additional. If you would like to begin receiving text messages this year, you must "opt-in" to receive text notification.

To do so, text the word ALERT to the number 22300. Do not include any words other than the word ALERT.

After doing so, you will no longer receive a phone call at that number and will only receive a text message.

If you do not want to receive text notification, you do not have to do anything. Your phone number and email address from our FamilyID and Focus systems have automatically been entered into the One Call Now system.
School Pictures
Students who were absent on Picture Day or those who wish to have their picture re-taken, should report to the auditorium lobby Friday, November 11, at 8:30 AM. Students requesting a re-take should bring their original photo package. There is no charge to have pictures taken or re-taken for your yearbook portrait. If you wish to purchase additional photos, place orders online by going to www.mylifetouch.com PRIOR to November 11 and using Picture Day ID# EVT87NDZK (note: this is a different code than the original Picture Day last month).
If there is ever an error with your photo order, please contact Lifetouch at 1-800-743-8997 or ltcustomerservice@lifetouch.com. Their Customer Service Department will be best equipped to correct your order or answer your questions.
All Saints Day Mass

All Saints Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 1, at 10:20 AM in the auditorium. All students will be attending. This will fulfill the Holy Day of Obligation.

All Souls Remembrance

In the heritage of the Roman Catholic Church, November 2 has been set aside as a day when we remind ourselves to pray for those who “have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith.” The entire month of November is then dedicated to pray for them and for the healing of memories in their regard. Alumni are invited to submit the names of deceased loved ones to be remembered in prayer throughout the month of November. Their names will be placed on the altar in the chapel and commemorated during Mass. Please email the names to us at allsouls@yorkcatholic.org and we will be sure to add them to those already in the chapel.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
The November mission collection will be our annual food contribution to the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry. Each homeroom is asked to donate a turkey and canned and/or boxed goods for a Thanksgiving dinner to the Food Pantry. Cash donations are also welcome. Items should be stored in each homeroom until Thursday, November 10. Please do not bring frozen turkeys until November 10. They cannot be stored at the school.

The following are items needed:
  • Boxed desserts (brownies, lemon or raspberry bars, cookie mixes etc.)
  • Canned cranberry sauce
  • Boxed stuffing
  • Frozen turkey (or money toward this)

Thank you for helping to make a family’s Thanksgiving dinner a special one this year.
New Service App

We're excited to announce that York Catholic has partnered with the mobile app, MobileServe, to help students log service hours and to find service opportunities more easily. Religion teachers presented the application to students during class with instructions on how to log service hours. York Catholic is no longer using the paper service hours verification forms and instead the students are logging their hours using the MobileServe application. All other guidelines in the York Catholic Service Booklet should be followed. Please click the link below to see how your student is logging their service hours. Contact your student's Religion teacher with any questions regarding service hours or MobileServe.
Virtue=Strength

The Virtue=Strength program is devoted to virtue formation through school, athletics, parish, and/or the community. It is designed to be used by teachers and staff across the entire student body. Each week a different virtue is highlighted to share with our students. Click below for the Virtue=Strength Virtue of the Week that helps parents reinforce virtue formation at home.

Bowling Team Sign-ups
Attention students grades 9 through 12 who like to bowl. Refer a Friend to YC
If you know a friend, family member, or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $250 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education. Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $250 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.  In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click below to fill out the form. If the family you refer attends York Catholic through their first semester, your family's tuition will be credited $250, spread into 4 credits applied to the months of February, March, April, and May.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the box below and allow us the opportunity to do what we love -- help to develop, nurture, and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

The Parent Referral Program is open to all parents of current York Catholic students. The tuition credit is not available for referring your own children. The $250 credit is only good toward tuition on a student's account; no cash is given, and it is non-transferrable. A referred student applies only to a new student from a non-partner school.

Thank you for all you do for our school!
