Food Justice Curriculum

Our 8 lesson curriculum engages and empowers high school youth on topics of food justice in their communities and how they can create meaningful change.

Root Camp Curriculum

Root Camp is a 10 lesson curriculum for older elementary and middle schoolers that includes discussions around the connection between food and well-being, food justice, criteria for making decisions, and the rationale for shopping locally and in season.

All curricula are free for NYC DOE K-12 schools!

Zero Waste Schools

Curbside Composting

We are thrilled to announce that Curbside Composting (aka Organics Collection) is expanding! This year, all DOE K-12 schools in the Bronx will switch to Curbside Composting Collection service, either in the fall (starting Oct 17) or spring (starting Mar 6).

These Bronx schools will join over 850 other DOE schools already receiving daily collections of food waste and food soiled paper from the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY). And just like we've done for schools for the last 10 years, GrowNYC ZWS will help all the new Bronx enrolled schools achieve Zero Waste goals through education, training, and support. We'll be there to help folks figure out how to sort food waste and food soiled paper along with metals, glass, cartons and hard plastics in the cafeterias.

Register Your School Garden

All DOE K-12 public and charter schools can register with GrowNYC School Gardens. Once you register, you'll have access to our free programming, supplies, and technical assistance from our team.

If you've registered your school in the past, make sure it's up to date - you must renew your registration each year in order to be eligible for upcoming giveaways and opportunities.
