HAPPY OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY MONTH!
SO THANKFUL FOR OUR CTC OT’s!
April is National Occupational Therapy month. It’s the time of year when OTs are recognized for the hard work and dedication they bring to our students and staff throughout the year. We all have roles and activities that we do everyday (or as often as possible) that give our lives purpose and meaning - these roles and activities are our occupations. Our students at CTC are no different, and our OTs are here to help them discover and do what is purposeful and uniquely meaningful to them.
In Oakland, our OTs continue to build skills and adapt tools for our students to participate in lessons, help with their self-care, explore interests, hobbies and job-related opportunities while preparing to become active community members, contributing to and enjoying all the things it has to offer. In addition to working on physical skills in the OT gym and adapted equipment in clinics, you’ll find our OTs working in the classrooms, sensory room, in small peer groups, during community-based learning trips, providing therapy in the pool, leading therapeutic dance and horticulture classes, and providing meaningful movement opportunities such as yoga.
We’re fortunate to have a group of OTs at CTC who are inspired by our students’ abilities and passionate about making sure they’re able to participate in their days at school and beyond in a way that’s the most meaningful and functional for them. Join us in celebrating the people who put the “fun in function”!
