Deacons’ Special Offering - RTS Partnership

This Sunday morning our deacons are asking us to prayerfully consider giving a gift to the Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) Partnership. Today’s special offering is designated for seminary scholarships to assist new and current students with the cost of their education at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS).

These scholarships make it possible for gifted believers to become seminary students and develop as future leaders who are trained and mentored by professors who honor God’s Word. These funds are vital in removing obstacles for current students, and they are critical for the health and growth of the next generation of Christian leaders.

We need more pastors and professors, writers and speakers, teachers and counselors who believe that the Bible is true and know how to share that truth with anyone. We need young leaders who have been equipped to minister in a world that is hostile to Christianity. We need dedicated students and seminary graduates who are called to careers in Christian service. We need committed believers who will surround seminarians with prayer and loving support.

Your gift today will help RTS fulfill its mission of preparing students to fill all the roles the church will need in the days to come. Your gift will be used by God first to encourage each scholarship recipient, then to touch thousands of people who will be affected by the work of these students over a lifetime of ministry.

To learn more about RTS and opportunities for partnership please visit www.rts.edu.

Please place all special/monthly communion offering gifts in an envelope (found in pews) and label it ‘Special Communion Offering’ and include the name of the ministry before placing your gift in one of the tithe boxes located inside the sanctuary at our main doors in the north, south and toward the main lobby. You can also give online by clicking here. Thank you for your gift!

Men's Fellowship Breakfast

Saturday, April 6

You and your sons that are 12 years old or over are personally invited to join us for our Men’s Fellowship Breakfast on Saturday, April 6, at 8:00 am, in the Community Life Center. Our time together will feature opportunities to meet and get to know other men in our church community prior to hearing from our speaker. We will continue our semester theme of “Mentoring” and specifically focusing on transitioning into application and what mentoring relationships can look like in our individual lives. Our featured speaker this month is Derek Wells, Pastor of Shepherding and Discipleship.

We have a team cooking a delicious buffet breakfast on site. In order to establish an accurate head count for our team cooking the meal please make sure to RSVP by clicking here.  A $10 per person cash donation is encouraged to offset the cost of food for the breakfast. If you have questions, please email Amy Van Dusen at avandusen@christcovenant.org

We hope to see you for all or a portion of our time together in April!

Combined Sunday School on Transgenderism

April 7, 14 and 21

Western culture is currently undergoing deep transformation in how people view sexuality and personal identity. Rather than seeing sexuality as a gift to be received from one’s Creator, it is increasingly understood as determined by the individual—even down to remaking bodies to align with a sense of sexual identity. This cultural change has brought unprecedented challenges to the Church as she seeks to bear witness to God’s Word on what it means to be human, and as she seeks to minister in a deeply confused culture.

This all-church miniseries taught by professors from Reformed Theological Seminary will equip Christians to understand what Scripture teaches on issues related to transgenderism, how we got to this cultural moment, and how Christians might wisely and compassionately minister to others on this issue. All adults and youth are welcome to attend. Sunday School begins at 9:00 am in the sanctuary. We hope to see you there!

Giving Thanks for Jan Adams

Let’s give thanks to the Lord for Jan Adams, who has served Christ Covenant Church as the Administrative Assistant for Christ Covenant Youth Ministry (CCYM) for 30 years and is entering into retirement.

Jan has faithfully served thousands of students and student families over the course of her time serving CCYM, doing everything from creating signup links for events, making almost weekly Costco runs to feed hundreds of teenagers, and volunteering to arrive early in the morning to make sure all the details are in place for a mission trip. Jan is diligent, knowledgeable, hard-working, efficient, and a joy to work alongside. Even more than that, she loves the Lord with her whole heart, and this love is evident in all she does.

Though she is retiring from her role with CCYM, Jan will continue worshiping and serving at Christ Covenant. She will still lead a women’s Bible study, and she is excited to find new opportunities to serve the church body. The CCYM staff and the many families she has served throughout the years are so thankful for Jan and all the many ways she has served and blessed the Youth Ministry.

Jan has been married to her husband Joe for 45 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren, and Jan is looking forward to spending more time with them in retirement. Please take a moment to thank Jan for her ministry, and please join us in giving thanks to the Lord for Jan’s heart of service and love for her church family!

Giving Thanks for Peggy Wekall

Join us in thanking the Lord for the faithful service of Peggy Wekall, who has served Christ Covenant as Ministry Administrator for Women’s Ministry and Youth Ministry for nearly fourteen years and is entering into retirement. Peggy’s dedication to the women and families of Christ Covenant has always been evident in her tireless support of everything from Women’s Bible Study registration to Serve the City. Peggy has worked with many pastors and staff members in her time at Christ Covenant, and they have all flourished with her administrative support. Peggy is intuitive, proactive, detail-oriented, and has the uncanny ability to anticipate needs before they are expressed. She serves joyfully, ensuring that every detail is accounted for and every need is met. Peggy does all that is asked of her with excellence, often going above and beyond to solve problems as they arise. She is a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and has set an example for all of us in how to live in service to the Lord. We will miss her dearly but know that she will continue to utilize her considerable gifts in service to the church, in between snuggling her grandchildren in Atlanta and her newest grandbaby in Charlotte! We are so thankful for the opportunity to work with and learn from Peggy over the last fourteen years and have greatly profited from her friendship.

Peggy has been married to her husband Mike for 40 years. They have two children and two grandchildren with one more arriving in April. Though Peggy is retiring from her role, she will continue worshiping and serving Christ Covenant Church. Please take a moment to thank Peggy for her ministry, and please join us in giving thanks to the Lord for Peggy’s heart of service and love for her church family!

Spring Picnic

Sunday, April 14

All are invited to join us for a church-wide spring picnic immediately following morning worship on Sunday, April 14, 2024. The church will provide drinks and desserts. You provide your picnic lunch!

You can pack your own family’s lunch or get together with your small group, Bible study, people you sit with at church, or friends and divide up the menu to bring part of your picnic. Bring blankets and/or lawn chairs, as we will be outside on the lawn. Some inside seating will be available. We hope to see you there!

O Night

Tuesday, April 16

Everyone is invited to join us on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month for Christ Covenant Outreach Nights, called O Nights. Our next one is Tuesday, April 16, from 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm. We will meet in the south lobby of the worship center. We will have some time of training to equip our people, and then we will go out in groups into the community to do surveys and to share the gospel. If you do not feel comfortable walking, we would love for you to participate by praying on our campus. Please bring your small group, family, etc. and join us!
