Live Reference at Sherrod

Need research help but don't want to make an appointment with a librarian?

Now you can get drop-in research help for those quick reference questions. Librarians are available 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m. Monday - Friday to help you find sources for your papers, cite your sources, and more.

Visit us on the 1st floor of the library behind the AskUs! Desk in the room we affectionately call the fishbowl...no appointment necessary.

Need more than quick research help?

“I heard the library can get my textbook for free!

Where is it?!?!”

If Sherrod Library has your textbook for free, your professor should be able to share a link to the e-book or instructions on how to find the physical copy. You can also check the library’s eReserve page as well as OneSearch to see if the textbook is available through the library.

If Sherrod Library does not have your textbooks available, you will need to purchase or rent your textbooks elsewhere like the campus bookstore or another vendor.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to borrow textbooks from other libraries through interlibrary loan. Most libraries do not buy or lend textbooks, especially the latest ones. Books requested through interlibrary loan take time to arrive, so you might fall behind in your studies waiting for a copy.

Feel free to encourage your professors to look into the Open and Affordable Course Material Initiatives that help instructors find free textbooks for their classes; Sherrod Library is always working to help provide training and incentives for instructors to reduce student textbook costs.
