Recognize your volunteers: Send in your submissions | |
SaskCulture is seeking examples of outstanding cultural volunteers who deserve recognition! As part of Volunteer Week this year, SaskCulture will once again highlight and recognize cultural volunteers who contribute to building a culturally vibrant Saskatchewan. Please complete this online form for each volunteer by April 11, 2024. If you have any questions, email acamacho@saskculture.ca.
Volunteers will be highlighted in a province-wide Volunteer Week campaign, which will be conducted in partnership with Sask Sport, the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association, and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Parks, Culture, and Sport.

Register now for SaskCulture’s upcoming webinar! Join Dawn Martin, Daybreak Consulting, on April 17 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. for this lunch & learn about Governance Basics.
This session will explore the fundamentals of non-profit governance. Dawn’s approach is to work with non-profits to build governance processes that meet organizations where they’re at while still meeting the legal requirements imposed on boards of directors. This is an opportunity for new board members and staff to understand the basics of governance.
Registration is free and open until April 16.

SaskCulture is seeking talented, dynamic, conscientious and energetic individuals. The positions open for election at the 2024 Annual General Meeting are as follows:
- Chair
- Directors from the following communities: Demonstrated knowledge of the arts; First Nations ancestry and a demonstrated knowledge of First Nations culture; Membership at Large; Demonstrated knowledge of multiculturalism; and Métis ancestry and a demonstrated knowledge of Métis culture.

April is One Book One Province month | The annual One Book One Province library program will see libraries, book clubs, and individuals across Saskatchewan join together this April to read the same book and share discussions. The 2024 One Book One Province title is Miss G and Me by Jennifer S. Wallace. The program aims to increase literacy and create a reading culture in the province. Read more | SK artists recognized with Governor General’s Awards | Marjorie Beaucage and Michelle Jacques were among the 2024 recipients of the Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts, which celebrate the exceptional careers of artists from Canada. Marjorie Beaucage is a Two-Spirit Métis Auntie, filmmaker, ‘art-ivist’ and educator, land protector and a water walker, currently residing in Duck Lake. Michelle Jacques lives in Saskatoon, where she is the Director of Exhibitions and Collections and Chief Curator at Remai Modern. Read more | Creative Saskatchewan launches Production Directory | Creative Saskatchewan, the official film commission for the province, has developed a Production Directory to help facilitate and attract business connections in Saskatchewan’s film and television production industry. The new digital directory aims to connect the world with Saskatchewan-based crew, cast, and production partners. Read more | Cultural volunteer receives Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal | The recipients of the 2023 Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal were announced in March; among them is Jyotsna (Jo) Custead, a devoted volunteer with multiple organizations in Saskatoon and throughout Saskatchewan. Over the past 40 years, she has served on numerous boards and committees across various sectors such as health, art, music and culture, justice, and women’s issues, including serving as a former Board Member with Heritage Saskatchewan. Festival site inspires teachings about the land

Due to the Ness Creek Music Festival’s Boreal Forest location, and the ecological mindset of its founders, a large part of the festival experience has always been about what you can learn from the land.
Since the Festival started in 1991, organizers have made sure that those who attend can not only listen to music and have opportunities to participate in artistic activities, but have experiences that connect them to the land. Read more
