Board of Supervisors Meeting

The public meeting of the Derry Township Board of Supervisors scheduled on Tuesday, November 8th at 7:00 pm, held in person at the Derry Township Administration Building, 600 Clearwater Road, Hershey, PA 17033, has been canceled.


The next meeting will be the Derry Township Board of Supervisors budget public hearing being held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be held in person at the Derry Township Administration Building, 600 Clearwater Road, Hershey, PA 17033.


Notice of Hearing The Derry Township Board of Supervisors will continue the public hearing re: Conditional Use Application No. 2022-06 for Governor Crossing scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 6:00 pm it has been rescheduled for Monday, November 21, at 6:00 pm, and Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 6:00 pm.

At its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the Derry Township Board of Supervisors appointed Keystone Collections Group as the agency responsible for collecting the Township’s Local Service Tax and Occupation Tax beginning on January 01, 2023. We have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions to help understand the process to help our residents. Veterans Day - Friday, November 11, 2022

The Township Administration office and Recycling Center will be closed on Friday, November 11, 2022, in honor of Veterans Day.


The Township would like to give thanks to all who have served our country in the military.

DTMA: Construction Update

Pre-Construction Activity in Gelder Park:

The project began on Monday, October 31st,

tree-clearing activity in preparation for the Deer Run Stream Restoration. This Chesapeake Bay Pollutant Reduction Plan Project is expected to be completed in early Spring 2023 and will help reduce sediment loads by over 500,000 pounds per year. This tree-clearing activity will be used as a chainsaw safety training exercise. Crews will be accessing the lower portion

of the Deer Run Restoration Project via Gelder Park. DTMA appreciates the community’s patience while

we work to improve our waterways.

Notification from Public Works Department

Hazardous Tree Removal

on Bullfrog Valley Road

On Monday, November 7, 2022, between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (rain date Tuesday, November 8, 2022) Bullfrog Valley Road will be closed between Stoney Run Road and Derry Woods Drive for the removal of hazardous trees. Detours will be in place and the removal should be completed within one day.

Power HIIT Focuses on improving muscular endurance, starting with activation rounds using Exertubes and body weight. This is followed by the strength section of the class using personalized weights. Designed to be modifiable for all fitness levels. Enjoy a different workout each week designed to target different parts of the body.


Wednesdays at 5:30 pm - Strength, Stability, & Stretch (w/ Kim E.)


Strength, Stability, & Stretch provides resistance exercises that target strength while adding an additional component for balance. The workout includes dynamic and static stretching to improve the range of motion. All 3 elements of this class are combined to support an active lifestyle.

Karate Lil Dragons • Ages 3-4

Learn martial arts in this ongoing class. Parents must stay but do not need to participate. This class is for children who are ready to go at it alone in a class setting. Parents will be close by for support if needed. Children will learn many martial arts skills in this fun skilled setting.


Karate Tigers• Ages 5-7

Karate Tigers is an ongoing class that is side by side with the Lil Dragons so siblings can be together. We will learn all the basics of martial arts plus the more traditional side such as katas. Safety & Life Skills, self-defense. This is a fun-filled class.


Karate Advanced Tigers• Ages 5-7

Classes consist of traditional martial arts, Moo Duck Kwan Tang Soo Do, sparring, one-steps, kata, self-defense, endurance & strength training. DAMA provides a full martial arts curriculum.


Karate Dragons • Ages 8+

Families are welcome. Classes consist of traditional Martial Arts Sparring, one-steps, kata, self-defense, endurance, and strength training.

PA State Police Museum History Lecture

Saturday, November 5, 2022, 10:00 am-12:00 pm


Museum staff will present a two-hour program on Saturday, November 5 from 10:00 am-12:00 noon on the origins and evolution of the State Police Force from 1905-1937. Topics to be covered will include, but not be limited to, the infamous Coal & Iron police, the roles played by Teddy Roosevelt and M.S. Hershey, the deaths of the first two Troopers killed in the line of duty, Omar the Belgian Shepherd Medal of Valor recipient, and why the Pennsylvania State Police decided to pick Hershey as the place to locate their recruit training.

Part of the program will also include a tour of the Museum at no charge. The gift shop will also be open.

This program is free to the public and will be held in the Museum’s All-Purpose room. However, space is limited to 60 attendees. Therefore, interested parties should contact the Museum at 717-534-0565 or email psphemc2@gmail.com to reserve a seat. Directions to the Museum: Traveling east on Hersheypark Drive (past the Tanger Outlets on the right), turn left at the stop light on Laudermilch Drive (Rt 743). Take the next immediate left onto Swatara Road, and then take another immediate sharp left onto a hill. The Museum’s sign is on the right-hand side at the peak of the hill, and it has a steeple on the building. 

25th Annual Preservation Gala
