October Events

October was another busy month for the NY Metro chapter! We hosted 3 inspiring and educational events including a discussion on Decorating with Antiques and Vintage with designers Elizabeth Pash, Tom Samet and Long Island Liaison, Amal Kapen at Country Carpets. The same week chapter members Phoebe Beachner, Michelle Jacobson, Monserrat Mendez and Maria Lomanto delivered an informative recap of the 2022 Gather conference hosted at New York School of Interior Design.

Earlier this month the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee treated us to a panel moderated by Elissa Grayer where Sequoyah Hunter-Cuyjet, Kay Sargent, Beth Diana Smith and Dr. Jarvis Watson shared their insights on equity within various aspects of our design community. The event was a huge success! The DEI Committee will continue to raise the bar on unique programming that sparks conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the design industry. We look forward to more events soon!  Thank you to the Sossego showroom for hosting this event! We also had the pleasure of meeting up with our fellow ASID members from across the country at the California Peninsula Mixer hosted by our friends at the gorgeous Poliform showroom on Madison Avenue.

ASID 2022 GATHER National Conference Panel Recap

Our panel included highlights from the ASID Annual Conference, GATHER, that was held in Miami Beach from the 21st to the 24th  of September. The panel featured a fluid conversation between four members of our HWS committee who attended the event. They shared all of their experiences: from the location, to the numerous pop-ups, to CEU sessions, to key sustainability takeaways They also shared what you can expect from a professional experience, as the event enabled members and non-members to network, learn and discuss how design shapes the world we live in.
