The New Moon on May 22, 2020, at 1:39 pm (EST) will be in Nakshatra Krittika and the zodiac sign of Taurus. Ruling Energies of this New Moon: Sun, and Agni, The God of Fire.

The ruling energies of this New Moon in Krittika, "The Star of Fire," is not just a mild campground fire. It's a blazing fucking inferno. The Sun, The King and life-giving authority, and Agni, The God of Fire, team up this month in what's sure to be a spiritual purification making way for something new. This spiritual purification is known as Tapas.

Tapas, let it burn. A sacrificial fire meant to burn away karma, cindering through layers of illusions, ignorance, obstacles, and all the other self-created bullshit that have kept you from you. This process is not for the faint of heart. The process comes to completion when there is nothing left to burn, and the ashes are carried off by the wind as a sacrificial offering. The heat transforms anything that is of value, and a new creation rises from the ashes like a Peacock. I imagine you were expecting a Phoenix.

The Peacock is the sacred bird of India. It is associated with cycles of time and transcending century after century. It is also the riding mount for Krittika. With its mesmerizing colors, the Peacock is the only animal that can swallow the poisons of a venomous snake, becoming more iridescence and immortal in the process. It is associated with birth and resurrection and teaches us to use the lessons of the past to embrace a new future.

A new future can only happen when you let the old one burn. The final step in the purification process. Everything in a pile and ready to be burned away.

Above and below the clouds

Our New Moon is offering us the opportunity to let it burn. And, as your parents use to say, "keep away from the fire," I urge you to do the same. Each time you pick something out of the fire, it becomes even more useless than before, and the possibility exists that there is one tiny particle needed for the new creation. Let it burn.

Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto are all in retrograde motion. This will allow us to examine everything about our lives and toss them into the inferno for purification. This last step of the purification process must happen as we enter into our coming eclipse season occurring June 5, 2020-June 21st, 2020, with the Summer Solstice on June 20, 2020

Lastly, we have entered a new welcoming and confusing cycle. In the last 18 months, Rahu has been in Arda, "The Star of Sorrow," and on May 20, Rahu entered into Mrigashira "The Searching Star." Do we go this way or that way, down that street or this one, up there or over here? Our journey individually and collectively for the next 18 months is to search for new ways to care for ourselves, one another, and the Earth.

There are some days when it's just hard to get out of bed. As the days get shorter, we can find our motivation a bit snuffed out. Summer's bright sunshine can inspire us and ignite our inner inspiration, but as Autumn progresses, it may be...
