Greetings, Community Members and Partners – ο»Ώ

β€Š

I hope all is well with each of you.

We have many exciting things happening at Lone Star College-Houston North. During this past week, we had the first of our two graduation orientations. This is an opportunity for us to prepare our future graduates, and their families, for our upcoming commencement which is scheduled for May 11th. This will be our fourth ceremony. Below are a few pictures from the event.

Registration for our fall 2024 semester started this past week. We are targeting a 10% increase over the past year. This fall, we enrolled over 3,400 students, which was an increase of 12.6%.

Our ultimate goal is to enroll a minimum of 4,700 students. This number is based upon our internal budget-per-student ratio developed a few years ago. We are fortunate, for since we started, our Lone Star College-Houston North students have achieved some of the highest semester course completion rates seen within the system. We pride ourselves in the success of our students and the level of service we provide, however, for sustainability purposes, it is important that we continue our growth trend.

β€Š

With that noted, we have some exciting initiatives that we believe will help us reach our enrollment goals.

Our Bethune Empowerment Center projects are going well. We are nearing the move-in phase. We will be offering Electrical Technology and Texas's first Electric Vehicle Charging Station Maintenance program for community colleges. Below is a teaser from our recent walkthrough.

In addition, I am very excited that we will be adding Architectural Design to our Fairbanks location. We have an excellent instructor, state-of-the art equipment and technology, and significant interest from our local partners. We believe this will become one of our strongest programs.

As always, thank you for your continued support of the college. It has always been our goal to be a college of the community---meaning that we work with you to help our service area thrive. As a former president once told me, our communities should be better because of the presence of our institution. That is our goal for LSC-Houston North. We want to be a part of the great work happening to revitalize our North Houston communities.

I wish each of you well.

What is the C.A.R.E. Center?

At Lone Star College-Houston North, we believe that with the right structure, and the right support, our students can be successful inside and outside of the classroom.

Our Panther Pact Emergency Fund is a safety net for our students, with 100% of the proceeds helping them directly.

We are the most diverse Lone Star College institution and our locations exist in the lowest-income sections of our system’s service area. However, for the past three years, our students have continually had some of the highest completion rates within the system.

We invested a lot of time into developing partnerships so we can help students in a cost-efficient manner. We've helped students remove barriers such as food insecurity, clothing and toiletry needs, textbook costs, as well as a technology divide.

Your contribution will directly support a student in continuing their legacy.
