Thrift Shop Volunteer Luncheon
by Cathy Alter

On September 20th, All Saints honored Thrift Shop volunteers for their dedication and service to the Thrift Shop ministry and mission. Thirty people attended the festivities.

And what festivities! While everyone feasted on Chicken Cordon Bleu, broccoli salad, rice pilaf, pumpkin bread, and cakes too decadent to mention, the Thrift Shop leadership team (Manager Karen Tomasian; Volunteer & Advertising Chair Nanci Link; Women of All Saints Treasurer Rheta Kasmer; and WAS President Debbie Cox) expressed heartfelt thanks for the volunteers’ fellowship and dedication — and hard work! — as well as for the support of ASC clergy and staff. Father BJ gave a lovely blessing and thanked the volunteers for their support of ASC's ministries and local outreach and charities.

For the luncheon, Memorial Hall was transformed into a garden party courtesy of Karen's masterful interior design, and Rheta's spectacular 3-D centerpieces filled with silk flowers. Everyone in attendance left with an arrangement and a chic business card holder, donated by an anonymous benefactor. The party ended with a raffle for several beautiful Vera Bradley products; lucky winners were Hilah Gaba, Edyta Cousens, Father BJ, and Father Matthew (who just might have had a little help from above!)

Blessing of the Animals

An annual tradition, folks came out on a rainy afternoon the Sunday before St. Francis Day, bringing their animals to be blessed by Father Matthew and Father Mac!

Kingdom Moments

On October 5, All Saints was blessed to host Christian author and pastor David Zahl, who spoke to a packed crowd in the Great Hall about his newest book - Low Anthropology, which explores how our ideas about human nature influence our expectations in friendship, work, marriage, and politics. In his book, Zahl invites readers into a Biblically-rooted low anthropology, fostering grace, hope, and connection. After his talk, Zahl signed books for parishioners and other guests.
