Stand Up and Go!
(2 Kings, 5:14-17; Lk 17:11-19)
For all of us who have been through the pandemic, we know first-hand how disease and sickness have a way of separating us, how they can isolate and cut us off from the rest of life.Disease which causes isolation shows up dramatically in the Scriptures. So, how does a person of faith face suffering, and especially the exclusion that can go with it? Read Fr. McKenna's reflection HERE.

Enough to Live On
By Alex Lawes
At the intersection of 202 and 92,
three feet should be enough
to live on.
When you are a mendicant
working the macadam,
three feet of concrete,
eighty feet long should be enough
to live on.
But one hour after dusk,
during rush hour on a day
where rain melted snow,
and dogs were not walked,
save the quick foray outside
the back door,
three feet suddenly seem like two.
Two feet should be enough
to live on.
When you are a mendicant
working the macadam,
two feet of concrete,
eighty feet long should be enough
to live on
when you are troubling others,
who know the adage,
“there is no such thing as a free lunch.”
Two dollars is what I gave
right before the cycle of lights reset.
I would like to say
that it was all I had,
but the other sixteen dollars
would know I was lying.
Two dollars should be enough
to live on,
at least
until the two dollars are gone.
But God blessed me for those two dollars,
or so she said.
