FMEC Board of Trustees Updates

Student, Resident join the FMEC Board of Trustees

The FMEC is committed to incorporating the ideas and opinions of physicians in training and future healthcare leaders, and as such added two new positions, a resident member and a student member, to the FMEC Board of Trustees in 2023. Nearly 20 residents and students applied, and the quality of the candidates was incredible – the future of family medicine is in good hands! Thank you to all those who expressed interest, and congratulations to the two new FMEC Board of Trustees members.

Read more about Taylor Rider and Hannah Clarke, and the rest of the Board, on the FMEC Board of Trustees page.

Hannah Clarke, MPH, Medical Student Member, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH

Member-at-large vacancy – apply now

The FMEC Board of Trustees is seeking applicants for a Member-at-Large position on the Board! We have one immediate vacancy, with the term beginning in January 2024 and running through the 2026 Annual Meeting in September or October 2026 (three-year term). Additional vacancies will occur in 2024 and 2025. Candidates must be in the FMEC region (14 states +DC – see the list on the FMEC website). FMEC membership (either individual membership, or membership via an FMEC Partner organization – see the FMEC Partner list) is encouraged but not required. Active participation in the FMEC via speaking at or helping plan the Annual Meeting, participating in a learning collaborative, or other means will contribute to a strong application. We encourage all applications, but in discussions, the Board is hoping to see interest from states not otherwise well represented on the Board, from young professionals, from those interested in technology and the future of health care delivery, and from candidates who will bring diversity to the current Board. For more information, visit Get Involved with the FMEC.

Thank you to Dr. Jen Sparks

The FMEC Board of Trustees expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Jen Sparks of Lawrence, MA for her many years of service to the FMEC, including as a Board member-at-large for nearly 10 years.

Dr. Sparks represented the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency on the 2015 Annual Meeting Host Committee, when the meeting was in Danvers, MA, and has served on the FMEC Board since, also serving on the 2023 Host Committee. Her term as a member-at-large expired in 2023, and she has chosen not to serve again. Her thoughtful participation in our discussions, leadership at the FMEC Annual Meetings, and commitment of time and financial support has been greatly appreciated!
