Del Monte Pink Glow Pineapple!

Where are the pineapples grown?

Pinkglow® pineapples grow on a select farm in the South-Central region of Costa Rica, which has the ideal soil and climate for growing pineapples.

Can I get a pink pineapple anywhere else?

Fresh Del Monte is the only company to grow this unique pink pineapple variety.

What does it taste like? Does it taste different to a regular pineapple?

Pinkglow® also has a delicious and unique taste, with notes of candy pineapple aromatics. It is also less sour than a traditional pineapple, juicier and sweeter in taste.

How are they grown and/or harvested?

Pinkglow® pineapples are grown by planting existing pineapple crowns in the ground, allowing new pineapples to grow.

Why does the pineapple not have a crown?

Pinkglow® pineapples are harvested by hand. In order to regenerate new pineapple crops, the crown needs to be planted.

How are these pineapples pink?

Pinkglow® pineapples contain lycopene, a natural pigment that gives some produce its red color (e.g. tomatoes, watermelon), which makes this product pink.

Forelles are perhaps one of the best kept secrets of pear lovers. Their overall crop size is among the most limited of all commercially grown pears in the Northwest. However, that is no reflection upon the demand for Forelles by those who are familiar with the variety. They are available from September through January, so don't pass an opportunity to buy these bite-size delights whenever you find them displayed in the markets where you shop. Forelles (pronounced for-EL) are one of the smallest varieties of pears, a little larger than Seckel pears. Their symmetrical body, often bell-shaped, begins with a small round base that tapers evenly to a short neck. Their stem is usually long, straight, and narrow. A unique characteristic are the red lenticles, or freckles, that set this variety apart. Their flesh is moist and crisp.

ORGANIC

Organic Cucumber English Special!

Have you ever wondered why one specific type of produce, the English cucumber, is packaged differently from almost every other fruit or vegetable in an American grocery store? Or why these coddled cukes can cost four times as much as their American counterparts? There’s a good reason for it, and once you’re in the know, you might change which variety you reach for in the produce aisle. English cucumbers are sweet, slender, straight and have fewer, less noticeable seeds than many other cucumbers. You’ll also see them called greenhouse cucumbers, hot house cucumbers, European cucumbers and seedless cucumbers.
