A Deeper Dive Into Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI)

October 1, from 4-6 p.m.

Are you a member of the team providing DLI at your program? A Deeper Dive Into DLI offers both new and veteran instructors the opportunity to add to their literacy strategies’ toolbox, as well as the chance to address some common challenges related to DLI. Completion of the Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) Basics course in the Trust Academy LMS is encouraged before attending this training.


SEL PQA Best Practices Community of Practice (CoP)

October 2, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The purpose of this CoP is to provide YD K-5 staff an ongoing opportunity to reflect on and share best practices regarding how they will use their CAT assessment, and, more generally, the SEL PQA assessment tool, as opportunities for reflection, growth, and professional development planning.

YAC's Environmental Resiliency Youth Summit on Sept. 28 at FIU

Encourage those you serve to participate in the YAC Environmental Resiliency Youth Summit on Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at FIU College of Engineering & Computing, 10555 West Flagler Street, Miami, FL 33174. Remind Those You Serve to Join The Trust's Youth Advisory Committee

It's officially the Youth Advisory Committee's (YAC) recruitment season in August and September.


What is the YAC?

The YAC is a youth development program available exclusively to Miami-Dade County high school students that allows participants to explore leadership, service and advocacy. The YAC also provides eye-opening community service opportunities. 


What are the benefits of joining the YAC?

9th through 12th grades are given the opportunity to:

  • Earn an abundance of community service hours.
  • Develop a service-learning project, with funds provided by The Children’s Trust.
  • Participate in local field trips to meet local community leaders and experience Miami-Dade communities.
  • Participate in a trip to the Capitol in Tallahassee during Florida Children’s Week to meet legislators and experience the political process.
  • Gain strong leadership and teamwork qualities that will last a lifetime.

The Home Team

This week, we are featuring The Home Team and their after-school and youth development programs. Their mission is to improve the lives of Miami-Dade public school students through engagement with academic, sports and business leaders. In addition to enhancing students' academic, social and developmental success, their programs also help strengthen social skills both personally and within the community. The Home Team will offer a wide range of programs at Ponce de Leon Middle School and Gibson-Bethel Community Center throughout the 2024-2025 school year. Their programs have been active since 2016 and include free meals, tutoring, anti-bullying, cultural arts, dance, homework help, STEM robotics, literacy, post-secondary planning and more! CLEAR and HEAL Leadership Programs Still Accepting Applications *

CLEAR : Climate Justice Program

The 10-week CLEAR program provides participants with the groundwork to become climate justice educators, leaders, and innovators in their own communities and beyond. Participants will develop a deep and intersectional understanding of climate science, local climate change threats, and solutions. The goal of the program is for participants to:

  • understand what climate change is and how it impacts folks in Miami and beyond while learning the history of the environmental justice and climate justice movements in the US
  • learn strategies for building climate resilience in Miami-Dade Count
  • explore the intersections of climate, health, and housing
  • develop their skills in framing the issue, public speaking, writing, and community organizing;
  • understand the role of different non-profit and political bodies in local climate resilience advocacy work;
  • identify their interests, strengths, and passions as grassroots climate justice leaders.

HEAL : Housing Justice Program

The 10-week HEAL program provides participants with the groundwork to become housing justice educators, leaders, and innovators in their own communities and beyond. Participants will develop a deep and intersectional understanding of Miami’s housing crisis, local housing crisis threats, and solutions. The goal of the program is for participants to:

  • understand what the housing crisis is and how it impacts folks in Miami and beyond while learning the history of housing injustice and affordable housing advocacy in the US
  • learn strategies for building affordable housing in Miami-Dade County explore the intersections of housing, health and climate
  • develop their skills in framing the issue, public speaking, writing, and community organizing;
  • understand the role of different non-profit and political bodies in local climate resilience advocacy work;
  • identify their interests, strengths, and passions as grassroots housing justice leaders.

Data Analyst - $61,565.02 Annual

As a Data Analyst at The Children's Trust, you will be responsible for collecting, processing and analyzing data to help our organization make informed business decisions. You will work closely with various departments to understand their data needs, provide actionable insights and support strategic planning. The position maintains and implements routine solutions under the guidance of senior information technology management.  


Research and Evaluation Analyst - $61,565.02 Annual

The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth, and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Therapist

Advocacy Network on Disabilities is seeking a compassionate and skilled Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Therapist to join its clinical team. The ideal candidate will have specialized training and experience in providing trauma-focused therapy to children, adolescents, and their families. The TF-CBT Therapist will be responsible for delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients who have experienced trauma, helping them to process their experiences, develop coping strategies, and improve their overall mental health.


Training and Experience Requirements: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field. Licensed or license eligible as a Mental Health Professional in the state of Florida.

Minimum of 2 years-experience working with children, adolescents and families, with a focus on trauma. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or Creole. Salary: $60,000. AND offers 100% employer-paid medical benefits, 12 paid holidays, and generous PTO.


Family Support Coordinator

The Family Support Coordinator is responsible for the provision of advocacy, support and linkage services to individuals with developmental and other disabilities, their families and care givers as well as professionals and others seeking assistance. Utilizes strength-based strategies to build families’ protective factors.


Training and Experience Requirements: Bachelors in social work or related field. Minimum of 2 years-experience working with families who have children with disabilities and knowledge of local community strongly preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
