Nancy Sullivan, PhD, Appointed NEIDL Director


Nancy Sullivan, PhD, has been appointed director of the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL). Dr. Sullivan is chief of the Biodefense Research Section at the Vaccine Research Center, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), where, over the past 18 years, she has overseen an interdisciplinary team of scientists committed to understanding emerging infectious diseases and their potential solutions. She will join BU on Dec. 1.

New Shuttle Service


BUMC employees and students will have access to three shuttle routes operated by the Newmarket Business Improvement District (NBID). These fixed shuttle routes will connect BUMC with MBTA Andrew and Ruggles stations. You must show your BU ID to the driver when boarding. Click here to see the route maps and shuttle stops.

Rising Fourth-year MD Student Receives Physicians of Tomorrow Award


Bita Naimi received a $10,000 Physicians of Tomorrow scholarship from the American Medical Association Foundation.

Call for Nominations: BUMC Emerging Leaders Program


This two-day intensive program explores the characteristics of effective leaders and introduces key leadership skills to help late assistant professors and early associate professors on the Medical Campus. Participants attend discussions on what it takes to emerge as a leader, and workshops to practice those skills and develop a network of peers.


Interested faculty should discuss their nominations with their department chair, division chief or an associate dean or center director.


Department chairs, division chiefs, associate deans or center directors should submit the nominee’s name, CV and no more than a one page description of their promise as a leader, their effectiveness, innovation, reliability, and capacity to energize and motivate others to [email protected] by COB Friday, Oct. 7.
