The Suzuki Piano Academy
We welcome you to our family of music makers! The Suzuki Method encourages teachers and parents to support the student at their level and to inspire them to reach a little farther every day.

Through daily listening of the recordings, practice and frequent performance opportunities, students will quickly secure a routine that will lead them to musical competency.

Ready to purchase the recordings? The listening program is the primary teacher in the home. Recordings are available on CD, Siri and iTunes. Passive and active daily listening is recommended.

Here is a link for iTunes:
Parents should plan on sitting in the lessons and asking for clarification even to the point of sitting at the piano for 5-10 minutes of the lesson in order to become a more confident practice partner at home.

Ready to purchase a book? Here is the link for the New International Edition of the Suzuki Piano School Volume One:
Please take notes during the lesson and repeat the patterns and exercises at home. Establish a listening program and use video to capture musical excerpts that need practice at home.

Four is the magic number! Practice small exercises four times.

Try for at least four days of practice, though seven is best.

Here is a practice chart to get you started. Below is a picture chart of Twinkle A through Cuckoo.

Finally, realize that the parent-child practice relationship will take time, usually six months, to establish an agreeable rapport and rhythm--so be patient in the process. Teachers are here to support you both!
