Happy Founders' Day, Acadia University!
Thank you for being a part of Acadia's proud history and bright future. Please take a moment to consider and appreciate our campus and community on our 184th birthday.
Acadia University was founded on November 15, 1838 and is an integral part of Wolfville.
VIDEO: Our founding was an act of equity
Dr. Peter Ricketts, Acadia's President and Vice-Chancellor, shares the story of Acadia's founding and how our mission is as relevant today as it was in 1838.

Three distinctive versions of University Hall
There have been three versions of Acadia's iconic University Hall. The First College Hall (left) opened in 1844 and the Second College Hall opened in 1879. Ironically both were destroyed by fire on December 2 in 1877 and 1920 respectively.

The current University Hall opened in 1925.

Explore a few of our many "firsts"
In 1996, Acadia pioneered the use of mobile computing technology in a post-secondary educational environment.

With the Acadia Advantage, Acadia became a laureate of Washington’s Smithsonian Institution, part of the National Museum of American History permanent research collection, and the only Canadian university in the Education and Academia category of the Computerworld Smithsonian Award.
