B3 Board of Directors (Howard Greene and Colleen Claflin) joined Executive Director, Amy Schroeder-Riggio and traveled to Costa Rica in July to celebrate and inaugurate the 2020 projects that B3 worked on in February of 2020, pre-Covid. A plaque was presented at each of the sites as a way to commemorate our collaboration and our time in these amazing communities.
The first stop in Costa Rica was to the community of Santa Rosa.
The Mejuntos team worked with the community and local families to begin construction of a small community center and refurbishment of an arena used for multiple events in this small farming community. The community center was quickly put to good use as a COVID vaccination and testing site.
The community association, led by their president Walter, were eager to hear how the Mejuntos students and advisors were doing. The B3 delegation received a tour of the new community center, learned more about the rodeo arena and plans for what’s next for this farming community.
