THE HORSE PERSPECTIVE

Twenty Years and Counting

This Christmas marks the beginning of 20 years of Equine Differences. We started construction in the spring of 2003 and finished that November. Shortly after completion, we began moving horses into our 15-stall barn and one 60 x 100 indoor arena. Then it began to get crazy. Over the next year, the flood gates opened for a lesson, training and educational equine facility in NE Ohio. In 2006 we expanded, adding extra stalls on both the east and west sides of the facility and constructing a 100 x 200 outdoor arena. In 2009 we added a second indoor arena (68 x 220) to hold college and youth horse shows. Finally, in 2019 we added an additional 10 stalls and extended the small indoor arena making it 60 x 160. We are in our current facility caring for over 40 head of horses, offering Western, English, and dressage disciplines. There is something for everyone to enjoy. With our large group of horses and ponies we can meet everyone's goals. Come and celebrate our 20 years milestone.

We will spend the 2024 season celebrating 20 years in business and we hope you will join us in this celebration.

Coaches Corner

Are wins and losses a good measurement?

First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS! Recently, a collegue helped me remember why we got involved in the horse business and, to a greater extent, why we teach. We sometimes get narrowly focused as we travel to events and concentrate solely on the wins and loses. Yes, they can be a good measurement and its fun to test yours and your equine partner's skills, but is it defining long term? I believe everyone has to answer that question in their way. I have watched so many of my students both college and youth grow. Learning to care and maintain horses, they come to understand the commitment, hard work and grit this world takes. This is a lifestyle, and make no mistake, it is a lifestyle. Many past clients have come back--some with their kids--and they want to share the same great experiences they enjoyed during their time at Equine Differences.
