City Council recognizes life-saving firefighter
The Cleburne City Council recognized the efforts of a city fire fighter who saved someone from potentially drowning in Lake Pat Cleburne.

City Council and staff presented firefighter Austin Warner with a service award at the July 27 City Council meeting. Warner saved someone’s life while he was off duty earlier this summer.

Cleburne Fire responded to a call that a truck had driven into Lake Pat. Before the on-duty fire and paramedic personnel could arrive, firefighter Warner, who had been enjoying the lake on his day off, went into the water and pulled the driver through the window as it submerged into the lake. By the time crews arrived at the scene, a boat was pulling to shore with Warner and a semi-conscious patient. Cleburne Fire believes Warner’s actions saved the patient’s life while voluntarily risking his own.

Cemetery staff to conduct regular summer cleanup in August
The cemetery grounds cleanup is scheduled for the last two weeks of August.

The cleanup removes items left behind on graves to meet city ordinance. Staff will dispose of any materials left on graves. Those interested can remove their decorations ahead of city staff’s work.
All graves are limited to two items of floral decoration and one monument saddle floral design piece. This cleanup targets removal of temporary decorations that violate policy. In most instances additional decorations aren't made to last in the elements and can break, like glass, or blow in the wind.

Meet the Pet of the Week
An adorable litter of puppies is available to adopt through our Foster to Adopt program. Since these pups are only 6 weeks old, they are too young for spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations. Adopters will "foster" these puppies until they are 12 weeks old. Once the puppies reach 12 weeks, they will be brought in for spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations and the adoption will be finalized. During the foster period, puppy food and vaccinations will be provided. Other requirements and conditions will apply so please email us at acunit@cleburne.net for more information on this program.
