This Weekend in Worship

The fourth of the Old Testament promises providing a baptismal lens this Lent is the promise God makes to Moses: those who look on the bronze serpent will live. In today’s gospel Jesus says he will be lifted up on the cross like the serpent, so that those who look to him in faith will live. When we receive the sign of the cross in baptism, that cross becomes the sign we can look to in faith for healing, for restored relationship to God, for hope when we are dying.

Civic Life & Faith

How as Lutherans should we understand our relationship to civic life — including government — as individuals and as a church body? The ELCA is developing a social statement on civic life and faith, the relationship of church and state, and related matters, as called for by the 2019 ELCA Churchwide Assembly.

Social statements are important documents because they govern church teaching and policies, and support ministries. They also serve as discernment tools for ELCA members as they think about social issues such as civic life.

Between now and Sept. 30, 2024, you are invited to study and give feedback on the draft by filling out an online survey or attending a hearing in your synod, as available. To access the draft and the survey, go to www.elca.org/civicsandfaith.

Maintenance Specialist

Faith Lutheran Church seeks a Maintenance Specialist which performs routine work involving the repair and general maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment (non-custodial).

This is an in-person, part-time, hourly position with compensation commensurate with skill and experience. Flexible hours are negotiable. The position will be open until filled. Interested persons are invited to fill out the Application for Employment. Go to www.faithlc.org/employment for more information and the application.

Nursery Worker Needed

Faith is looking for an additional nursery team member. Hours are typically Wednesdays from 6:00—7:30 and Sundays from 8:00—12:00. Contact the church office at office@faithlc.org if interested. Applicants must be older than 18 years of age.
