Remembrance Day
Tomorrow, on Remembrance Day, we honour the many Canadians who have served and sacrificed for the freedom of our country. We hope you take a moment to acknowledge those who have served and continue to serve. Lest we forget.

Windsor and Essex County is honouring those who fought for us through a variety of parades and services throughout our region. Click the link below for more information.

Volunteers Needed
It's almost the holidays, which means it's almost time for the 2022 Gift Wrapping Booth at Devonshire Mall. We are excited to announce that our booth will be back after a 2-year hiatus, in our usual location down the hall from Indigo, next to Lululemon!

The gift wrapping booth is a fun & festive way to get involved during the holiday season! We're always looking for volunteers - come alone or sign up with your friends, family or coworkers!

To sign up to be a gift wrapping volunteer, please complete the form linked below. For more information, please contact Michael Cryderman at mcryderman@communitylivingessex.org.
Small Time Change
Huge Disruption for All
Hallowe’en has come and gone and Daylight Saving Time has ended.
Welcome early evening darkness and light filled mornings! For those with intellectual disabilities this small time change can be a huge adjustment in lives with regulated schedules.
Here are proven strategies to ease the adjustment:

  1. Stick to the same daily activities and routines focusing on outdoors and fresh air, if possible.
  2. Limit evening stimulation or screen time. Quiet reading or drawing creates calm.
  3. Dim lights before bed. Darken bedrooms to ensure fewer early morning wakeups.
  4. Reward positive responses with a special treat, an outing, an activity.
  5. Be patient - first days or weeks may include groggy, cranky family members.

Get ready, holiday celebrations are fast approaching. More change for everyone.
