2023 BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS


Per the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce Bylaws, the Nominating Committee is currently accepting applications for the 2023 Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of 10-14 members, and typically meets monthly. All members of the Board of Directors are expected to attend other Chamber functions and volunteer their time and energy for various Chamber projects. Board members are expected to serve as positive leaders of the Chamber and to demonstrate their commitment to the Chamber by serving on at least one Chamber Committee.


We encourage our members to apply. Applicants are selected by a Nominating Committee based upon service in the Chamber as well as background and experience.


All applications should be submitted to the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce office no later than September 9, 2022. The application can be submitted via email to pauline@frankfortchamber.com

OFFICE CLOSURE


The Frankfort Chamber of Commerce office will be closed on Tuesday, September 6th following Fall Fest. We will reopen and resume regular hours on Wednesday, September 7th!

Frankfort Lions
The Frankfort Lions Wurst Fest will kick-off the Frankfort Fall Fest on Thursday, September 1 from 6-10:00pm in The Garden, located at Kansas & Oak Streets in downtown Frankfort. Peter from the Bier Stube will join us that evening to provide music, and food & drinks will be available for purchase. Enjoy a fun evening celebrating our town's German heritage while supporting the Lions' mission to serve our community. Tickets may be purchased prior to the event from a Lion or at the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce. $20 for 2 adult entries prior to the event or $25 for two adult entries at the door. Kiwanis Club of Frankfort
Kiwanis Club of Frankfort will be sponsoring its annual Peanut Day the weekend of September 23-25. You can support them by purchasing a box of peanuts or a box of Gummy Bears for $50/box. If you do not want a box of peanuts or gummy bears, donations of any amount are graciously accepted. Please consider helping us out. We really do need your help!

Emagine

Come join us for the Sensory Friendly program at Emagine. This sensory friendly special program makes going to the movies a more enjoyable and accessible for those with sensory needs. What does this mean? First, it means sensory friendly (lights up a bit, sound down a bit). Second, audience interaction (movement, speaking, singing) and electronic device (phone, tablet, etc.) usage are allowed. Third, guests are welcome to bring a safe snack for any food allergies or food avoidance/restrictions.

The Lincoln-Way Foundation for Educational Excellence is planning its annual $10,000 All-American Golf Ball Drop Raffle, on 9/9/2022, at the Sanctuary Golf Course in New Lenox! Scarecrow Building Contest: Calling all families, scout groups, homeowners associations, and business members... to come join the fun by participating in the annual Scarecrow Building Contest! Scarecrows will be displayed outside the Founders Community Center, so let your creative skills shine and construct eye catching entries. The cross sticks will be provided by the Park District and will be available for pick-up starting August 22. All entries are due by October 7. Voting will run from October 10-28. Voting will take place at the Founders Community Center office & on the Park District's Facebook page.

Frankfort Country Market, Sundays through Oct. 30 (no market on September 4), 9 am-1pm,1 N White Street and Breidert Green Parking Lots. Throughout the season, the market welcomes nearly 50 vendors selling produce, cut flowers, plants, honey, meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, baked goods, canned goods, hot foods and more. Illinois State Treasurer's Unclaimed Property (iCash) Drop-in on Fri. Sep. 2 from 10am-3pm. The Illinois State Treasurer's Office safeguards more than $3.5 billion in unclaimed property belonging to millions of Illinois residents. Did you know that one in four Illinois adults discovers unclaimed property? Stop by and visit with Alice Morales from the Illinois State Treasurer's Unclaimed Property (iCash) office. She will assist you with checking for unclaimed property.


Fighting Back Against Inflammation on Tue. Sep. 6 at 7pm. Join us for this first in a three-part wellness series. Inflammation may be a factor in weight gain, daily aches and pains, and increased levels of anxiety. Learn how inflammation affects our daily lives and contributes to disease progression. This series is presented by Christine Rosandich, MS. Nutrition & Wellness Program Manager, of The Cancer Support Center in Mokena.


All We Can Save Book Discussion Circle on Wed. Sep. 7 at 7pm. All We Can Save: Truth, Courage & Solutions for the Climate Crisis is an anthology of writings by 60 women at the forefront of the climate movement. Through four meaningful discussions facilitated by librarian Jill Ganeshan, we'll gain ideas for building community around solutions and feel more centered and hopeful about our future. This group meets four times over the course of two months. Attend as many session as you'd like as we will be discussing different essays each meeting. Please note: Print copies of this title are available at the Library's Circulation Desk.


Illinois Libraries Present: A Conversation with Marlee Matlin: From Oscar to West Wing and Beyond on Wed. Sep. 14 at 7pm. In celebration of Deaf Awareness Month, Marlee Matlin joins Illinois Libraries Present to share the highs and lows of her Hollywood career and journeys as an activist. The youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar, Matlin's acting career recently achieved another milestone as her 2021 film CODA swept every category it was nominated in at the 2022 Academy Awards. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events. ILP is funded in part by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library, a department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.
