My name is Dr. Lawrence Hurst. I am an academic Hand Surgeon, Orthopaedic, Program Director for the hand surgery training program, and Chairman at the University at Stony Brook. In the past my research associate and I developed collagenase (CCH) for Dupuytren's Contracture.

Now I am working on an exciting new educational project: Hand Surgery Primer for Students of the Hand (version 1.0).

This educational tool includes pre-tests, diagnostic and exam guides for 22 common hand problems presented as case studies and additional post-tests with automatic grading. This teaching tool was built and edited by me and Dr. Samantha Muhlrad with the help of our team of consults.

This free tool should be especially useful for junior residents, medical students, PA's, PA students, NP's, PT's, hand therapists, and hand surgery educators.

The website address is www.handsurgeryprimer.org.

Our team hopes you will find this free educational resource, Hand Surgery Primer, useful and that you will take the time to use and review it. I would really appreciate your feedback and hope you will pass the Primer along to your colleagues and especially to other team members. At the web site, you should be able to get a user name and password. You will have to use the three step sign up process. This sign-in method helps to protect the site from hackers.
