This month we have a reflection from Cari Bumgarner, one of Haiti Cheri's board members. I hope you enjoy her story.
Discovering True Wealth
“…Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5 (NLT)
What does it mean to love the Lord with our whole heart? How do we show that love with all of our strength and everything our soul has to give?
This is a question I think about from time to time and I’m often brought back to a memory from a mission trip I took to Haiti back in 2011. Our team was visiting a village a couple of hours away from Cap-Haitien called Acul Samedi. This is one of the villages where Haiti Cheri assists churches as part of its ministry. We spent our days in our mobile medical clinic serving the people from the village. Some had walked several miles to receive basic care that they otherwise wouldn’t have had access to without the clinic there to meet those needs. In the evenings we would attend church with the locals. It was a time of worship and sharing stories of God’s faithfulness. Something that I witnessed as we were singing songs was how heartfelt the people of Acul Samedi worshipped the Lord. It was like nothing I had ever experienced! I was struck by the way that they praised God with everything they had. All of their hearts and souls and all of their strength seemed to be going up in praise to Him. They seemed to hold nothing back!
The people of Acul Samedi might not have the material things to give like we have in America, but one thing is for sure, they have a spiritual richness. Those in Haiti who know Christ as their savior remind me of this verse in Deuteronomy. I believe one way to show how much we love the Lord is during our time of praise and worship.

X-Ray System Update
The system is on order at last! We expect delivery in four to six weeks. Now we are looking for an X-Ray Tech to travel to Haiti with us to do training for staff. We don't know who that person is yet, but God does. Maybe it is you!
