Hunterdon County Office of Emergency Management Preparing County For Future Storms Through FEMA Grant Request 
Hunterdon County’s Department of Public Safety and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) recently submitted a $2 million FEMA mitigation grant application to protect residents by implementing a first of its kind project in New Jersey, to enhance and expand flood monitoring systems and provide traffic control gates in flood-prone areas County Commissioner Susan J. Soloway reported at the August 2nd Board meeting.

Commissioner Soloway said, “As Public Safety and OEM liaison for the Board, I am pleased to announce that this important application previously authorized by the Commissioner Board for mitigation funds has been filed with the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management. This necessary project will protect those who use our roadways by implementing a first of its kind project in New Jersey."

Local Vineyard Approved For The County’s First Tourist Signage Through NJDOT’s Tourist Oriented Directional Signs Program
At the August 2nd Commissioner meeting, the Board approved its first sign application under the New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) Tourist Oriented Directional Signs (TODS) program for Beneduce Vineyards in Alexandria Township. The TODS program is intended to enhance motorist safety by identifying places that may interest tourists and providing directions to them. Each facility must receive more than 50 percent of its customers or more than 50 percent of its annual sales from outside the immediate area.

Commissioner Soloway, liaison to the Department of Economic Development and Tourism noted, “Implementing the TODS Program goes back to my time in municipal government, and I am pleased that Hunterdon County has moved forward with its first sign approval under this program. The approval of the Beneduce Vineyards wayfinding sign is another step forward in the County’s efforts to showcase our Agri-tourism industry.”  

Hunterdon County Library Offers
Late Summer Fun For Residents
The Hunterdon County Library summer season offers residents educational fun, concerts, reading challenges and virtual events for patrons of all ages, allowing school-age children opportunities to continue learning throughout the summer break, and a way to beat the summer heat Hunterdon County.

Events at the library include a multi-state reading challenge, crafting events, Date Night/Game Night events, Nature Backpacks children can check out with adventure kits on different topics, and a retirement workshop for seniors. 

2022 Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program
Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers providing locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs, is available for eligible seniors 60 and older.

Seniors will receive $30 worth of vouchers to spend at participating Farmers’ Markets throughout Hunterdon County until October 30th.
 
Vouchers will be available for pick-up on Monday and Tuesday in July, August and September at 4 Gauntt Place, Building #1, Flemington.

The Jam Behind The Dam returns from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, below the Lake Solitude Dam in High Bridge.

Guests should bring their own beach chair for live music, cold beer, wine, food.

All proceeds help to fix up High Bridge, including the basketball court.

Raritan Township's Community Day & Car Show will be held September 17th at Lenape Park from 12 noon to 4pm.
Rain Date, September 18th.
